As a CHI fan I definitely wouldn't mind moving Jones. It just seems counter productive that his contract starts at the same time our rebuild does. But they absolutely would not accept that offer.

this is the exact same premise as the OEL trade, but worse.

Why would the canucks move two contracts, that expire in two years, for one horrible one that is just starting an 8-year commitment? Jones has already dropped off as a player significantly, and I'm sure that will continue every year of his horrible deal

Same reason they signed a bottom 6 guy to nearly 5 mil. It doesn't appear a lot has changed. The FO is pushing ahead minus shipping out picks.

I've got hopes. They have a ton of forwards so the signing was a bit strange unless it was part of the Kuzmenko recruitment. If Kuz turns out solid top 6 player and Mikheyev can at least be as productive as Pearson but great skater, then maybe they can figure out a Garland/JT trade that is big for their future.

i sure hope so, but i dont see how we moved from talking about needing cap space to becoming a team involved in signing almost a 5M player in free agency. I assumed that signing would lead to one of our top 9, higher paid guys getting moved, and maybe it still happens, but I'm just a little confused at this point.

One thing I will say, I have far more faith in this management group than I do in the Benning core. So thats a plus!
