Arizona found someone who actually wants to be a Coyote, and for that you have to give him what he wants. He was actually quite decent this year too which helps

I would usually say no but Coyotes found someone who wants to play long-term with them knowing their situation plus the fact that this contract help them reaching the floor so I'll said it's a good contract even though I would have give him 3.75M/season instead.

Probably the best contract in the league (Bergys) followed by potentially one of the worst in the league.

A little harsh albeit - Crouse is solid but the deal isn’t. Though it shouldn’t affect Arizona’s business lol. Guy got PAID, good for him.

A bit higher than I thought but he was asking for an extension in the 5M+ area. Great player, gets to hard areas and has better shot hands than people think for a big guy.

Crouse wanted 4 million in arbitration.

The Coyotes gave him 4.3 million for each of the next 5 years instead.

Funny.

Crouse's arbitration ask was 4 million. Coyotes gave him more than that but on a five year term. Looks like the logic is that Crouse would've been worth more in subsequent seasons.

Don't consider him the kind of player to get over 50 points so this will be rough if he gets relegated down the lineup.

I love Crouse, I think he's a good middle six power forward who will score close to 20 goals with this contract. But, it's way too much term and money. But like arizona cares at all, good on him for getting paid

It's a risky deal given that Crouse really wasn't that good until this year. Still, ARI can afford it, and if Crouse can keep producing like a 2LW, the deal will pay off.

If that's what he asks for, you trade him. Columbus understood it with Josh Anderson.

While I don't love the deal at face value it's not outrageous and he actually could outperform the deal as soon as this year so I'm waiting on judging it right now.
Improving every year is important for big powerforwards, almost all of them late bloom and he is in the games played threshold for a breakout. If he can be someone you pair with Keller flanking Schmaltz, then Cooley in 2 years, he could easily be a consistent 50-60 point physical winger at 4.3m. Every GM wants that

The potential is there for this to be as good if not better then Chychrun’s deal is today. Of course it could flop too.

That would take having a brain and Arizona showed they didnt have one

With his performance last year at the TDL with 50% retention could have easily got a late 1st or a package similar to Lehkonen (A level prospect + 2nd)

Either way Arizona committed to him and idk could be good or bad

Man though that little girls "pls dont trade him letter" must have got to them

Arbitration deals were 1 yr offers. This deal buys UFA years.

It's too much money, imo, but they avoid paying him past 30 and locked up a fan favourite. They also have plenty of cap.space. Skates well, has size, finishes checks, and kills penalties. I think he's good for 15-20 goals. Everyone wants guys like that. Had 17 even strength goals in 65 games last year, so the team is obviously hoping he has turned a corner. Maybe he has which would make the deal a lot more attractive.
