More like Bergeron and Krejci taking way less money and saving the team from signing a bad long-term contract for a 29yo 2C.

Getting them back keeps the Bs in the playoffs. Now all they have to do is dump Foligno and sign a couple depth pieces.

Considering the amount of teams looking to shed cap vs. the amount of teams that are willing to take some on, if it was this painless to dump a $3.8 mil cap hit, I'm pretty confident we would have seen it happen a few times by now this offseason.

Except Marchand and McAvoy are out for a very long time and the Bruins are stuck in the best division in the league

And bringing Bergy and Kreech back will help fill the void.

If reports of it costing CBJ a 1st round pick to dump Nyquist's contract, who is a better player than Foligno but at a 5.5 cap hit, I think it'd cost something like a 2nd + 4th to dump Foligno. Also Foligno having a 16 team NTC probs cuts out any teams that would take him on...

Getting teams to take a cap dump for a second 3 drafts from now is a tough sell too, best case thats 4 years away from a meaningful game played and realistically 5+ from being a contributor best case scenario

And BOS has arguably the worst prospect pool in the league, going to be interesting to see how Sweeny figures it out

Yeah, much closer for sure. As a Ducks fan, if he waived, I'd do it for a 2nd+4th. I just don't see the value in taking him for any less, just to do another team a favor and eat up a roster spot for one of the younger guys that will be fighting for minutes.

Edit: @salzy is right too-The Bruins next 2nd round pick is in 2025(!!!)

Props to him for selling out for this season and going for it tho. Boston have a ton of players expiring after this season as UFAs so they won't be cap strapped next season but probs will be at minimum doing a retool. I don't see Bergy playing again after this season so that'll be a tough loss.

Agreed. And you're also right that the prospect pool in Boston is fairly bleak after Lysell.

All depends what Pasta does, BOS could be at the bottom of the division for a long time as early as next year. Bruins need to sell Pasta if he isnt signed by the deadline they cant afford to lose him for nothing, they dont have the prospect pool for that

If they are in a playoff spot I don't see them selling. Probs be like a 2019 CBJ sell it all even tho your players, Panarin and Bob, are going to leave, for the hope of winning it all

No team is taking Foligno. If Krejeci earns some of his bonuses, Bruins will have less cap 223/24, Bruins used to be good at cap management, but now it seems they have fallen into the malaise as so many teams....at the cap with a middling to good team, and too many long term poor deals.

They are not a lock to make the playoffs. These moves give them a chance at the playoffs. It will be tough depending on
How long mcavoy and Marchand are out. You are also counting on your top 2 centers that are 37 and 36. I would bet the bruins either keep foligno or buy him out. Otherwise it will be expensive to move him (more than what you have posted)
