Description

Bergeron and Krejci are back under contract at unbelievable terms. I honestly can't believe the Krejci deal and the fact that we're only on the books for $4.5MM in bonuses for next year.

Zacha still needs to be signed. Given that he was swapped for a pending UFA, I think there is a non-zero chance that he ends up signing for his QO of one year, $3MM and the B's will just need to act quickly if they realize they don't want him hitting the open market. I would prefer a multi-year deal, but it will come at a higher cost.

Given the LTIR situation at the beginning of the year, no other moves need to be made right now. However, once the roster is fully healthy changes will be made. A trade (Reilly, Nosek, Foligno) would be ideal and honestly I would rather they do it now to free up space for Zacha and a cheap UFA signing. However, the B's can still get under the cap this season by just burying both Foligno and Nosek with Wagner. Nosek could be claimed, which would be unfortunate for depth purposes as a decent defensive forward, but would help even more with the cap. Foligno won't be claimed unless he gets off to a hot start, in which case they would try to trade him instead. Giving Foligno some top-nine looks early would be smart to boost his market value.

I actually love the idea of Kessel on this team under Montgomery as the replacement for Marchand while he's out and then as a plug-and-play offensive boost and PP2 asset. Have to make a trade first and then convince him to take a cheap deal and accept that when the roster is fully healthy he's probably skating on the fourth line, but worth the shot imo.

The ship has sailed on Z. Even if someone like Reilly gets traded, I would look at De Haan, Ryan Murray, or even Stralman before Chara.
