Man what a blunder by Detroit. Passed on a stud offensive D man growing in their own backyard. To be fair, Zadina was rated highly at the draft but it’s unfortunate to see how everything played out. Vancouver is very happy though

The rumor was always that we were in on Bouchard if Zadina hadn't fallen, so even if we didn't pick Zadina we wouldn't have ended up with Hughes. And we still would've missed by not picking Quinn. :\

Draft Hindsight is 20/20.

I'm sure Dallas would like a re-do in 2014. Julius Honka for Dylan Larkin.
Boston would like a re-do in 2015 when they had 13th, 14th, 15th overall. They could have Matt Barzal, Kyle Connor and Brock Boeser instead of Jakub Zboril, Jake DeBrusk, and Zach Senyshyn...

The list goes on and on.

Yes please. This was a failure the second it was done, much like the countless failures of Holland's last 10 or so years in Detroit.

Good time to remind Canucks fans when they took Olli Juolevi at #5 when Matt Tkachuk was available.
Even though both Juolevi and Tkachuk didn't work out long term, A Fun fact, both were traded to Florida. Juolevi was traded for Juho Lammikko...Tkachuk on the other hand. And to think Huberdeau, Weegar could be Canucks right now. Plus the picks! Man what a blunder by the Vancouver...

Draft hindsight is 20/20. All teams **** up from time to time.

Yep that was certainly a blunder and a perfect example of why you should pick BPA when you’re picking early. One of Bennings worst mistakes

Zadina was the best prospect available when Detroit was on the clock. That's why they picked him over Hughes. Quinn certainly surpassed Filip in development since draft day though. Good results for Vancouver. No point in losing sleep over it if you're Detroit. We have Zadina, keep working on him nd he keeps working on himself and hope he reaches that consistent 30 goal guy Detroit thought he'd be when they picked him.

Actually I heard today that Detroit had been speaking to Quinn and told him that if he was available at 6 they were taking him. There's a video of him looking super bummed when the Zadina pick was announced.

Should’ve been Dobson to be honest. Yeah, the rumor was that Holland liked Bouchard over Hughes/Dobson/Boqvist anyway and they didn’t think Zadina would be available. Jeez imagine having Seider + Dobson as your top 4 RD for the next decade…
