Why would Vancouver trade their best RHD when they are literally lacking RHD. This trade makes zero sense whatsoever for the Canucks. LIke Cmon

Who is paying the yotes a 2nd in this?

Ottawa, they pay a 2nd to dump Zaitsev and 3rd to acquire Myers

I don't see the point of this for Vancouver, they lose Myers, which isn't bad but the D is a big week spot in their lineup. Losing Myers makes it that much worse, probably best to keep him for now.

It's more likely that we pay a 2nd to dump Zaitsev and acquire Myers for future considerations.

No salary retention involved.

Imo this is lopsided in VAN's favor.

They get a decent asset in exchange to a cap dump.

Ottawa takes in more expensive but better player than Zaitsev, but not by a massive margin. They lose in cap and they lose assets.

ARI doesn't get good enough compensation for taking absolute trash.

VAN is the only team that doesn't lose anything.

As noted in the trade, Myers goes to Ottawa for $3M, which gives them cap savings as well as they dump Zaitsev. Should the 3rd going to VAN go to Arizona as well?

That’s horrible for the Sens… Meyers and Z have similar values

Frankly if I'm ARI I won't take Zaitsev for anything less than a first. He sucks so bad, and with the current market the cap space is viewed especially valuable.

Same goes for Myers. At half retained I'd consider taking him for free, but I'm not paying for him.

Frankly, VAN should not move Myers. They're already lacking in adept D-men...Myers is a top4 guy for them and they have no replacements ready.

If Ottawa's paying a 2nd and 3rd they should be getting out of the Zaitsev deal outright, not paying that price to shuffle deck chairs.

I’d say Z and a 3rd to Van for Meyers is fair

That’s not saying a lot considering how bad they are at that end should’ve used their first on one instead of like their 21st winger in 5 years

Not at all. Myers is the better d-man no question.
