It all will depend on where Kane wants to go. If he gives a narrow list, market could actually be a bit thinner for him. Kind of like the Taylor Hall in Buffalo situation.

Not many teams can afford the cap hit even with some retention. He's also getting up there in age.

Kane has a good 3-4 years left at being elite player. If he extends, a lot of teams would make room.

I just think his trade will be one of those “I want to got here” things. Won’t be much of public auction.

And he's still an elite player, top 3 in his position in the league; flat out game changer for a playoff team.

Cap hits are prorated against games played and Kane has already said he will be a Blackhawk and see where the season goes. Translation, he's going to see who's in a competitive position probably Dec/Jan and then determine if any, or how many teams, he will waive for. Thus his cap hit will be significantly less, but one this is for sure; any team he would waive for will make the space to absorb what is left of his hit minus Chicago retention.
