Buffalo easily declines that one. Nylanders a great winger, but Tuch is a heart and soul player for the Sabres now. You'd have to pry him from their cold dead hands. Quinn should be part of their Core also, where as Nylander could easily walk in 2 years.

I generally ignore most Matthews trades, simply because I don't see Toronto ever trading him unless it came to a point where he refused to extend and they knew he wouldn't extend.

Maybe ANA, but Anderson for an expiring UFA and a late 1st probably doesn;t quite do it IMO, and Im not a MTL fan. It looks likely that TOR might have to give away Kerfoot for little return because of the cap. But ideally it comes down to what you think of Anderson = based on last year or based on prior years.

anderson isnt worth a first tho, and kerfoot isnt a negative asset, andersons a glorified 3rd liner making too much money

I can see how you feel about Anderson, and just to correct I didnt say Kerfoot was a negative asset, BUT

Most teams interested in a middle six EXPIRING UFA are capped out, and most of the teams with cap space to trade for Kerfoot, are in the poor/rebuilding mode so are probably not interested in an Expiring UFA. The only teams that have cap and would take him are probably thinking of moving him at the TDL so would offer far less than what they'll receive at deadline. For instance, PHI can put Farabee and Ellis on LTIR and afford Kerfoot as a temporary player, but they're not offering a high round 2nd when they likely move him at the deadline for a low round 2nd. Teams like that are likely to offer a 4th and a 6th and hopefully turn around and move him "in season" for a 2nd or 3rd, BUT their risk is that if he gets injured and hes worthless.

TOR unless someone goes on LTIR need to move a salary of about 2mil or so, so they might not have a great advantage as a seller.

MM could be the next Getzlaf, or could bottom out as a number 2 center. Drysdale is already a top 4 d and could be top pair guy for the next 10-15 years. Gibson is better than Murray. Anaheim is still in rebuild mode (towards the back end) and is also giving up three second round picks.

Matthews is a top 5 talent. But does he want to re-sign in Anaheim? If he does, what supporting cast does he have? Does Anaheim have pieces in place around AM?

You say underpayment because you believe Matthews to be the second best player on the planet. Not everyone shares that opinion. My personal list is: McDavid, Makar, Vasy, Mack, Matthews.

Some may say having 10-15 years of a top center and defenseman is worth more than having a top 5 player for 8 years.
