I know its a PTO but what if he impresses and gets a deal

Marlies and Growlers got enough goalies like I think were at 10 goalies in our system rn (not counting the 2 russians as we dont got to worry about them yet)

It's a no risk high reward signing. He is still a fairly good prospect IMO

True but rn in our system we got (including new guy should he make it)

Kallgren
Woll
McKay
Cavallin
Petruzzelli
Ferguson

Among others I have probs forgot

So its gonna be a tough competition for playing time in our AHL and ECHL systems

No but they got contracts in the AHL to avoid hitting the 50 limit and also get development in

But in 2-3 years could see them pushing for the backup job if development goes well

Ok gotcha. Well I had hopes that the Avs would pickup Ferguson since we only have Annunen as a decent goalie prospect. I'd rather have your problems in that area.

Both good system goalies in NCAA. Both should done 5th year at another school to prove themselves up.

But neither are technically leaf’s property (they could be traded to rival AHL club, signed by parent NHL club). Which I find to be interesting scenarios.

Or they could be new EBUG’s.

Really dont think either gets traded or signs with another team as if someone offered either a deal Dubas would probs sign both to an ELC to avoid them leaving. McKay and Petruzzelli chose Toronto despite interest from other teams and while they could still leave I think its pretty clear they want to give it a shot and lets see what happens

And with both being good and Marlies and Growlers having injury troubles in the past both should get play time. Now a loan could be done like what happened with Kaskisuo but thats really all I see happening rn

Now if Philly gets desperate enough could see Kallgren get moved to a team needing a goalie like Philly

Of course. Id rather develop at Marlies facilities than in say, Tempe, Hamden, or Mankato.

And hopefully someone comes good because the system has not produced a goalie worth a damn in ages

Hold on Toronto has produced 9 stars in 40 years? I can tell you for a fact that is nonsense. Or is he getting creative and not counting someone like McDavid from the greater Toronto area?

He uses the term "star" for specific production rates. I think it's 0.70 P/GP for forwards and 0.40 P/GP for defensemen.

And I’m assuming he isn’t counting the whole area of greater Toronto?

Nah I think it's just the city of Toronto, so no Richmond Hill, Markham (you're already without Marner, Stamkos & McDavid as active players), and other surrounding cities part of the GTA.

Ok well that’s changing the picture just a wee bit isn’t it? People like that guy are annoying. You can just say those players all came from one Swedish town and leave it at that. The Toronto area produces more good players than anywhere else.

I don't see it as a knock on Toronto, he's just highlighting that it's produced elite hockey players for a small Swedish town in contrast to a major NA city.

You can still say that without even mentioning Toronto. I can say Sask produces more pro hockey players per capita than any other province, which is a fact. However, we don’t have the depth of quality players the greater Toronto area has. It’s very impressive that town has that kind of talent. It’s just odd to make it into a this place vs that place thing. It’s just something that I find annoying about our internet age, but maybe I’m just a cranky old guy?

I wouldn’t laugh too hard. We all know what happens when LTIR kicks in. Ask Tampa

If Brossoit is unable to start the year, they could have a tandem of Thompson and Hutchinson lol
