Lou would still come out quite well from this offseason by signing E-Rod and Milano.
With their goalie tandem and solid top 4, that should put them clear of teams like the Sabres, Sens and Red Wings
They just need one, not both. The biggest thing for the isles (Lou and the coach) is to make the tough decisions with some of their vets and send them to the press box/decreased role. I think this team could be pretty good if they go with these lines.
Lou even wanting to sign Kadri is a fireable offense, but it’s his other contracts (Martin, cizikas, Palmieri) that prevented him from being able to do it, so in the end Lou is still an idiot but at this point I am content with the isles offseason even if I still want Lou gone. I don’t believe in building a team through free agency so the fact that the isles haven’t given out any bad contracts (yet) is a good thing
Cgy doesnt have the cap though. Now they could sign Kessel to a 1 year 2mill deal
Nah. They need to make that move. I’d move Kylington + Dube and pay extra for retention. You can find a 3rd pair D to replace Kylington for cheap. They need a top 6RW
Just got the biggest laugh of my life on this site
Two caps fans told me
1. Connor Sheary is worth a late 1st to early 2nd
2. Sandin wont get McMichael in a trade and instead it would be more like a 3rd and 4th
Oh boy but hey I got my daily dose of Laughter for the day so im good
I dont think Sandin would get McMichael either. It would be more like a 2nd + sweetener though since thats slightly more than the offersheet compensation

I think he would easily get McMichael in a 1 for 1. As your basically getting a Dman who probs could play in Washington's top 4 soon for a young winger who still has a lot to prove. Now I will give McMichaels the ELC benefit but if Sandin signs 1.6 x 2 yrs then there is a deal to be had
And as for the silly notion of an OS. If it was to happen teams would have done it by now rather than spend 4mill on Gudbranson and Chiarot. Carolina has scared teams out of it so they would rather overpay free agents then go get.
As lets be real if teams werent afraid to OS a guy like Ottinger would be OS by now

Sandin could probably play in WSH's top 4, but we dont know because hes not proven in that role. Hes not much more proven than McMichael is, and Sandin is a year older. McMichael can play C too, hes not just a winger
Im not saying a team is going to offersheet him, but TOR doesnt have the leverage to ask for much more than what the compensation of an offersheet for him would be

Toronto's leverage would be why do we need to trade him we could just keep him and teams do know this. Wouldnt surprise me if someone offers a good wing of similar caliber in return for him but if the offer isnt great just keep him and work out a deal. As in general like with Nylander I got a feeling Sandin's gonna sign a deal that people will complain about at first than absolutely love it.
As in general unless its like a McMichael, Lunderstrom, Kaliyev, or other young developing guys. I just dont see a good trade for us involving Sandin

Keep him and play him where? Wasnt it reported by his agent that talks are going nowhere since he wants a bigger role which Toronto cant provide (crowded left side)? Plus Toronto doesnt seem to want to pay him what hes asking for anyway
Theyre gonna have to move salary out regardless and teams know that

Remember we have seen this all before as in 2019 Dubas had the same situation Nylander. His agent is the same guy who represents Sandin rn. He's playing the hard game trying to use the media as a leverage point and Dubas knows this and the last time these two went at it Dubas won getting Nylander to leave his 8.5 mill and sign for 6.9. Sandin thinks hes worth 2.6mill (lul) and Dubas knows this isnt the case so hes just gonna wait it out until Sandin signs a deal in the 1.8mill range
As for where Sandin will play there's a spot open right next to Giordano. And as for who probs gets moved Kerfoot. As its 1 year 750k in actual money with a 3.5mill cap hit that a team wanting to reach the floor could use over some of their young ELC's who could use development
Dobson at 8x6.5 would be already the best contract in the NHL
It would be a terrific deal, but I wouldn't quite call it the best in the league. Here are the ones that come to mind for me (excluding those who have just 1 year left on their deals, e.g. Nathan MacKinnon, Roope Hintz and MacKenzie Weegar):

Fair enough. Its not an ideal situation though with him playing on his off side and at that price Dubas will still have to move salary out
