Description
Not sure if the Islanders have any reason to make that trade, but semantics aside, I think it would be a good move for the Blues. Allows Scotty P to work into the lineup more frequently and Mayfield is an upgrade over Bertuzzo. The additions also don't affect flexibility for next season when some of the big boys need to be re-signed.

No thanks. There's zero need to shove Bortz out, and certainly not for a rental we likely can't extend. This is a lot of work for a small improvement across like 13 minutes a night.

Strongly disagree. How can you argue that the lineup I put together isn't a noticeable improvement over what the Blues would ice if the season started today? And for what, a couple mid-round picks? Depth goes a long way, especially when it will more than likely come down to the Blues or Avs taking the division.

Mikko, a 2nd and two 3rds is not "a couple of mid round picks". And now you've sheared the LD depth down to nothing, while slightly improving depth in places that already had it. I doubt either team accepts anyway, but I'm sure some Blues fans will like what you've done. As for me, I'm not a change for the sake of change guy. I'd rather keep the cohesion in a strict system team unless there's a real upgrade to be had in a place where it's needed.

Fair enough. However, regarding LD depth, even in my lineup we would have Rosen as a backup LD who was decent when called upon last season. Even Tucker might be able to log some minutes this year.

What are your thoughts on the Stastny signing? Assuming we have the cap space to make it work.

I dont think Blues do it especially at the expense of a 2nd round pick, though I do think both players you traded for are fine. As far as Stastny goes, the Blues got old enough this offseason. They need speed and youth, Stastny is the antithesis to that.
