Description
With our last RFA signed, the team is starting to come together. Just need that goalie.

I am eager to hear suggestions on this or any other goalie-to-NJ trade.

Note - Guys listed under taxi squad are guys they will likely play a role at some point in season (and would be available for playoffs, if needed. Lukehamadullin included).

Also - Greene signing is so he can retire a Devil

The Jets would demand the farm for Hellebuyck

Holtz, Blackwood, severson, 2023 first (top 3 protected) and stillman would be my ask personally which I know is an overpayment but that'd just how valuable he is to our team he leaves its rebuild and that's not what the team wants to indicate

If Helle goes, the rebuild would be fully on, in which case, I doubt Severson would be a considered. WPG would probably want a 1st and and a prospect or two with Blackwood.

Devils aren't giving that up for two years of Hellebuyck. Devils' top 5 prospects imo are Hughes, Holtz, Nemec, Gritsyuk, and Casey, none of whom should be moved to "fix" our goaltending. All we need for this season is average goaltending, we can reassess the situation when we're sure we can be competitive.

Definite no from Winnipeg. Zero chance the Jets risk Helly on a rental and a bad backup.

Well its not everyday a prime top 5 goalie gets traded with term being a vezna winner so that's not so ridiculous to ask for as severson could walk after on year probably a first around 13-21 ish but could be later depending on what happens Holtz who is still a rookie who's impact at the nhl is yet to be known and stillman who looks to top out as a decent middle six winger but ideally 3rd on a good team like a kerfoot esk player for that it's easily all down to Holtz in that deal he doesn't develop into what he can than it's a huge L

Holy mother of run-on sentences.... I get that Hellebuyck has insane value, it's just that the Devils wouldn't be willing to pay it.

And about 12 of those teams have enviable goaltending situations from our view.

(Really had to overstate how bad last year was in net)

For the jets to trade helly it kickstarts a rebuild, so the two guys offered don’t make a pile of sense, the goal wouldn’t be to bubble, but more to bottom out for rebuild. Daws Foote draftpicks would be more of the ask

Any pick, along with a good prospect or two, Severson, etc…but Devils walkaway if ask includes Holtz, Nemec, Luke, Muk or Grits.

That works as long as we don’t get in salary crunch.

Daws, Foote, 1st….maybe add Blackwood for salary/roster… and another prospect or later pick. All seems doable. I just worry about posting 5-for-1 type trades as they are usually lousy.

Well then helle doesn't get traded to NJ because for the petagree he has and the value he has to the Jets that's the price that it would take because they wouldn't be the team to sell low or even for fair value. A top 5 goalie just doesn't get traded often so his value has to be high and I take that hughes and nemec are off the table so Holtz makes logical sense can't give up prospects with low chance to even the value like Foote or Casey because for what helle is now they will never come close with a 2023 first and Blackwood in terms of overall impact. Helle just isn't a viable option for a team that isn't willing to pay to get him. All in all either stop with the trades for him or bite the bullet and give up a higher value piece in Holtz or nemec

Ya for sure, lots gets shot down on this site no matter what. Jets probably 6 months to a year away from some major decisions, not sure the fanbase going to be too enthused for a rebuild, and management scared of the fanbase and holding out hope for a quick fix. Personally i attempt to clean house and sell high this year, jets need to act more like the Oakland A’s, not on crowd or local support, but on ability to retain players or add ufas.
