Anaheim would take Dumo, but if this is an off-season trade, the 3rd would need to be attached to him probably.

They don't need to rebuild solely through the draft if that's what they said they were doing. Klingberg can be flipped for a huge haul at the deadline if there isn't a long term fit. They also need to be cap compliant, so better off having useful pieces for when they make a push for contention again.

It would be at the TDL or early in the season depending on what Smith and POJ are looking like

Ducks signed Vatrano because we dont have a shooter like him on the team if Jacob Perreault isnt ready to make the NHL jump

We signed Strome to bring in some leadership and help build a culture that fits the mold of what Verbeek wants to build in ANA

We signed Klingberg for multiple reasons. We can get a 1st+ for him at the deadline, He is arguably one of the best offensive mentors we could have gotten for Drysdale, and he helps our PP, and we had to get to the cap floor, and Verbeek said he preferred to do that through FA as opposed to trades

Even with these signings we are still firmly in a rebuild, and the Ducks operate off an internal budget, and ownership probably isnt going to spend much, if any more money right now

even if we acquired Dumolin (or any similar Dman) we still arent a playoff team, theres no point in ANA paying anything for Dumo and Verbeek has said he doesnt want to take on cap through trades

Heres a quote from just before we signed Klingberg
“There’s a couple free-agent defensemen that are out there still,” Verbeek said. “Some of them are asking too much term. I’m looking for more shorter-term defensemen at this point. There’s possible trade scenarios. But I’m willing to kind of look at the free agency market before I go to the trade market.”

Awfully rude of you to steal all of these thoughts directly out of my head, and then post them here...tears of joy

In an ideal world, I'd like to see us take a 1 year cap dump on with asset(s) attached. That would please me.

Great minds something something tears of joy

Id be shocked if we add anything else this offseason unless a team ponies up a first to take a contract, seems like its gonna take some convincing to get ownership to spend, and it isnt Verbeek thats going to have to do the convincing, its whichever team needs to offload cap that needs to convince Ducks ownership to spend

Yeah, I'd like something LD-wise, but I'd also like to see Vaak get the opportunity to play some minutes. I'm perfectly content with where the team is right now, and I'm also not super worried about if the Samuelli's would open the cheque book if it meant getting more assets for the team.

Well, I'm just getting up, and my head's still too fuzzy to write well, but you guys did a better job than I would have. Nice job, as usual.

Mine should make her first appearance on Earth here within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm already up early every day, but I'm assuming my ACGM visits will become far more "all over the place" when it comes to the time of day tears of joy

If we wanted to go and get a 2LD, we would get a younger guy with more term left on his contract. I'd also bet that his 10 team no trade list is the Canadian and California teams. The Defenseman that I would want off your roster is Pettersson.

Looking forward to it! Every time that I start to have any sort of nervousness about it, I just say to myself "You're a reasonably competent adult who has his life semi-together...Billions of folks have done this before, many of whom are known to be absolute morons whose kids have turned out to be not-horrible humans"

FYI Anaheim was 4th worst in the West last year. They may have added Strome, Vatrano, and Klingberg, but they lost Getz, Rakell, Lindholm, Manson, and Milano. The idea that they are making a playoff push this year and that Dumo is the missing piece is legitimately laughable
