I mean...Bertuzzi still can't cross the border due to COVID policies. Why would you want him when he can't play ~50% of the games and then potentially in the playoffs....no away games.

I doubt Chicago is going to take on cap dumps and eat salary for Kane. You are really only giving them Robertson and a late 1st that hold any type of value. I think they could do a lot better than that from every other teams.

Minten was also the Leafs 1st round pick this year but it gives them a couple of NHL caliber dmen for this year and i dont know if there are any teams that could take on Kane without Chicago retaining salary or taking cap dumps back, but definitely could see a team offering more for Kane

Yea, not even close... not giving up a top line, almost point-per-game power forward for a bottom 6 forward, an average prospect and a late 1st AND retaining at that.

Insanely hard pass from Detroit.

Minten was a 2nd round pick. Doesn't really have stats that stand out either.

Not enough for Detroit, especially if it’s a deadline move. Kerfoot does nothing for the Wings, and would be gone after the season. I do like Topi, but in no way is him plus a 25-30 getting Bert.

All of that would be irrelevant any ways unless border restrictions open up, Toronto wants an extension, etc.

It's lifted now. Everyone except for truckers can cross the border now, but they still have to test I think

Bertuzzi is a pending UFA and considering he hasn't signed an extension yet means he isn't a sure shot to resign.
You are also underrating Kerfoot and Niemelä.
Kerfoot is a 3rd liner but can easily slot up into the lineup with good players around him.
Niemelä has potential I'd say he's above average not a star by any means but better than average.
Also a late first in a very deep draft with great players throughout.

As a baseball fan who has listened to Americans wine about the Canadian border restrictions re: vaccination status because American teams keep having to leave unvaccinated players home, I continue to find it very interesting that they don't realize that to enter the US by air, you are required to be fully vaccinated (American rule...not Canadian...).

My understanding is that you can drive back and forth if you aren't vaxed.

If its a deadline deal and Bertuzzi hasn't signed with Detroit yet I take this if there are no better options. Beginning of the season not a chance. Niemela is looking like a pretty good prospect and I would love to find someone long term to replace Hronek.

The rules in both countries are pretty similar, it's just Americans are less likely to need to come into Canada which is why they're always wowed when they realize they need to be vaccinated.
