Description
Assuming Las Vegas really wants to replace Lehner externally.

The last time I brought up the idea of signing Kadri and the numbers for re-upping Dobson and Romanov, instead of getting intelligent input on those subjects, the first dozen or so comments I got fixated on the value for trading Bailey's cap hit. Once again, as an Anaheim fan, I'm perfectly happy with paying for him. Enough of this "but he'll cost at least a second to dump." I DON'T CARE.

Yeah Ducks fans yelled at me earlier when they only got a 2nd to take on Bailey so I don’t know how they will feel about paying for him.

I'm bigger than they are and as the senior member of the Anaheim contingent, I carry more weight.

Here's the problem with you saying you are happy to pay for Baily. Why????

The Ducks hold all the cards in this deal. Are they desperate to have Baily? No. Are there a lot of teams in competition to take him? No. Do the Isles really need to dump him to be able to sign Kadri, Dobson, and Romanov? Yes.

There is absolutely no reason to give up any value in the deal. And they should ask for sweeteners. Always take advantage when dealing from a position of strength.

And I'm sure I'll get criticism from the UNinformed observers, too.

Bailey wears an "A," so his leadership qualities are self-evident. He's still productive and played in 90% of the games last season while scoring 44 points, and Anaheim is weak at RW. I don't think that he's anything close to negative value.

I'm still of the opinion that Islanders need him gone a lot more than Anaheim wants him. If he comes in, I want one of our bottom veteran roster pieces out so that we don't bump any of the kids that we need to develop.

You are confusing someone simply having negative value and someone having negative value in a salary cap situation. A player can be productive and still have negative value given salary cap conditions. Bailey could be useful to a lot of teams, but there are only so many teams that have room for him under the cap. Cap space is a very valuable commodity right now. The teams that have it aren't going to help out those who don't without extra compensation.

This guy got it
Teams don’t care if he’s still decent, if you need to move a contract out, you pay assets to do it. Unless the guy is very good, like Bjorkstrand, than you get almost nothing lol and you lose a good player
IMO Bailey will cost assets to move, but that’s my opinion and I could be wrong
