Trading Thompson would be a mistake in the long-term, since honestly I expect Lehner to have played his last game as a Knight, once he shut it down last year before they were mathematically out. I think the team wanted him to play through it too, and they have a tendency to dump goalies in particular. I sense a burnt bridge there.

As for the Varly trade, I wonder if Lou would trade him for something underwhelming (depending on how he's doing with freeing up cap for Kadri), and take Brossoit or go acquire one of the Sharks' goalies if the cost of acquisition there is cheap. I still think a 2nd+3rd or two 2nds might be more likely than that trade.
