Finally, someone says it. I've been talking about it all summer with my hockey friends; if he was healthy, Barkov would've been in Hart talks this past season. In his last 82 games (which is taken from the two seasons which he played with Verhaeghe + whoever they could find to play RW, not Huberdeau), he scored 50 goals and 105 points while also playing Selke level defense. That's just crazy. He's the next Bergeron, just with more offense and a little less defense.
Although, one minor note, your math is a little off. As much as I'd like him to have been on pace for 120 points, he played 67 games, not 60. So his pace was actually around 110, not 120. Still, absolutely bonkers that nobody talked about it. The man's primary linemates this past season were Carter Verhaeghe and Anthony Duclair/Maxim Mamin. He only played with Huberdeau when the team was trailing badly, which happened more than you would expect but still not enough to say that Huby carried him (especially since his production didn't just skyrocket those few times they did play together).
