i feel like the leafs would be better off signing a better 3RD than have both subban and stralman. 1.4M could be put to good use
then clifford probably gets sent down and the leafs pickup a cheap dman on waivers maybe

I just don't see the Canucks moving Miller for players that don't make them more competitive for today and next year. Based off of what the Canucks have done this off season they are trying to compete. And if they stay healthy, get some stud goaltending I believe they can. Especially as their division is still weaker than the rest.

The only logical trade I can see going to the Canucks from the Leafs includes Nylander. A nostalgic Swedish connection of Nylander and Pettersson might be fun for the fans and organization. But really I can't see them moving Miller.

These threads immediately make me think of Bob Ross..."Just going to dump a bit of happy cap over here, and a little more happy cap over here, ah, I'll just ignore that full NTC that Muzzin has, because he'd happily waive his happy no trade clause if he knew it made us better! Ouuuupppps! Forgot to add Miller in there, so we'll just put him off to the side where theres a bit of space...And Ohhhh K now friends, now that I've made our team cap-happy now, I'll just sign some players super cheap! Bingo, bango, bongo, friends! That's how you paint a picture of a nice little ACGM!"

You can probably convince Muzzin to waive his no move clause to go somewhere with lower taxes and for most of these players it’s sign a cheap one year contract and hopefully cash in if theirs money next year. No teams have money

I didn’t want to trade away any more picks so I just signed what I thought were the best free agency D men. It can be anyone though

My logic was that Kerfoot can try 3C and Holl isn’t a bad add to the D. Next year they can go after someone like a Severson to play with Hughes

"Hello Muzz, it's Big Doobie here. Listen, I know that you took a bit of a discount on your last deal with us so that you could keep playing at home in Ontario, but there's a group of our fans out there that really want you off this team because they think you're overpaid. So, imma need you to waive that full no trade clause to leave home, your family, etc., and head to Seattle. Thanks big fella!"

Seattle or anywhere else if needed. If he says no Vancouver could just retain on Miller and Leafs ship out Sandin or something

Yeah, I mean, I think it's a given that Muzzin is on the Leafs roster this season. His trade protection changes next year, so that's potentially a different story, but as convenient as it is to just disappear his cap hit, it's just not a realistic solution. I'd also argue that moving that contract is going to hurt worse than just sending a 2nd.

Your 2nd solution is probably the more likely, but again, I don't see Van moving Miller anyway.

Vancouver has stated that if they can’t reach a contract he will be traded. All the talks of the contract negotiations aren’t close either. (Canucks offering I’m the low 40 million range) so it looks like he will be traded

It’s JT Miller. It’s not some 60 point guy that you’re like “oh he might help the top 6” it’s a guy that nearly put up 100. Top ten in scoring with Tanner Pearson as his most common line mate. You’re giving up a prospect and a first for a ~ 100 point player. Kerfoot and Holl realistically have next to value.

people usually use the term 100 point player for a guy whos gotten 100 points a few times, not for a guy that has never did it once

Are you trading for JT Miller from years ago or are you trading for JT Miller right now? Teams are trading for Miller based on his 99 point season…

Rental Nick Foligno got a first. Rental JT Miller is worth at least twice that

Not to the Ranger's he's not. And as a Canuck fan, why would you want to trade him for a rental value anyway? Don't you want as much as possible for him?

There are barely any teams that could resign him that would trade for him. Also, what do you think the leafs should trade for Miller?

Senators, Red Wings, Isles, Buffalo, just to name some that could sign him. Someone is going to sign him after this season, so wouldn't it make sense to trade with that team? Plus, the Canucks could sign him, and probably should.

Vancouver can not afford him. And none of the teams you mentioned would trade for him. What do you think is a fair deal for him?
