Trades
1.
VAN
  1. 2023 4th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
trade made before the season, anywhere for whoever can give the best pick. team has a surplus on wingers and pearson doesnt fit anymore
2.
VAN
  1. Iorio, Vincent
  2. McMichael, Connor
  3. 2024 3rd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
made around christmas, backstrom still out and strome not cutting it as a 2C on a team with cup aspirations. IMO washington has the most attractive and realistic options for the canucks. (could swap McMichael for Lap, but that would turn the 3rd into a 1st or 2nd atleast)

Mcmichael will not be moved in a Miller deal. And Miller would have to be retain by you guys and another team so we can take him

yeah could get a 3rd team in there for salary retention. but i think its completely unfair to say Mcmichael is untouchable for a 99 point centreman who would be making around 1.3 against the cap

From a capitals prospective Mcmichael for a 29 year old center man who just hit is career high is tough. Lap piece would be the guy instead

If its Lap that would drive up the price of the other assets significantly. Canucks need to get quality over quantity. cant get value without giving value

Highly doubtful all of Strome, McMIchael, Lapierre and Protas fail at 2C.

well this is a website made for hypotheticals, and i dont doubt that one of them can do the job at 2C. but none of them are 2Cs on a team that wants to win a cup

In a website for hypotheticals JT Miller would be a pure rental in this scenario. There is zero chance in that scenario the Capitals pay what would be the highest price in the history of the modern NHL for a rental. This will never happen even in a hypothetical.

Strome has already proven to be a legit 2C, so you're wrong there. McMichael, analytically has proven to be a 2C already, it's just a matter of getting chance.

How does a Kuznetsov-Strome/McMichael 1-2 line up with some of the other top teams that will be competing for a cup. not well.

Pretty darn well actually. Kuz is a legit 1C, Strome is a legit 2C. So pretty good looking center depth. It's better than paying an arm and a leg for Miller who will never touch 90 points again in his career.

neither of them are legit 1C's or 2C's on a team that wants to win a cup. not saying either of them are bad in those spots but absolutely no where near the elite of the NHL. and its not like caps have an elite d-core or goaltending to carry them to a cup.

If you actually believe Kuz-Strome stacks up ANYWHERE near Crosby-Malkin, Mcdavid-Drai, Matthews-Tavares just to name a few, idk what to say

Kuznetsov was the Caps best player when they won the Cup, so I'll disagree he isn't a #1 center.

I never said they are better than those centers, but you don't need to have the best centers to win the Cup. You just need some good ones, and the Caps have that.

1-2 punch, #1 dman, elite goaltending. those are the 3 biggest things you need to compete for a cup.

Kuznetsov-Strome is not an elite 1-2 punch, Miller-Kuznetsov is

Getting miller for only 1 roster player, a young dman who wont play for a few years, and not even having to give up a good pick to get an elite 1-2 punch would be a great bit of business for the caps.

Very strong chance McMichael doest reach the level Miller is at RIGHT NOW, and if the Caps are trying to win RIGHT NOW, this isnt a bad move at all

Kuz-Stome is elite. They have Carlson and Kuemper. They're fine. No need to spend an arm and a leg for 1 season of Miller before he gets a contract he will never live up to.
