Ottawa needs defense help, why wouldn’t they want a veteran leader that’s physical? Dorion would take it

Better options than Muzzin, and for a 2nd round pick? I doubt it. Muzzin is no different from a Nick Holden, Hamonic, or Zub on the RD side. The names Ottawa has been mentioned with? Chychryn (41 pts 20-21), Mackenzie Weeger, Klingberg, etc. Obviously looking for someone with more of an offensive bend to their game. Muzzin at this time is a 3rd pairing guy. Plus Muzzin is well into his 30's, the players Ottawa has been mentioned with are all in their mid-late 20's.

These Muzz deals are getting out of hand. His NMC and cap hit compared to what he can bring at this stage (including staying healthy) are why he very likely won’t be moved and if he were it wouldn’t be for anytbing close to a 2.

Yup. The conversation should have stopped a few months ago at "He has a full NTC.", but it's simply the easiest way for Leafs fans to make their cap situation work (Similar to Kerfoot/Holl for assets).

Honestly, I don't think Muzzin is as bad as people here like to say he is, I'm just reasonably aware that a)Full NTC, and B)Any team that has cap space right now isn't in a position where they shouldn't be getting paid to take his contract, especially considering most of them are non-playoff teams (Including the Sens...sorry pals! Your time will come soon enough!). But also, in case it wasn't clear...FULL FRIGGIN' NTC fellas!

Because he's always injured and isn't as good as he once was. Plus he's getting paid 2 million more than he's worth right now. We're much better off going after Chychrun/Severson/Tanev.

Chicago obviously accepts that...Bunting benefits the most from it too! smile

Toughest part about this is goaltending is still highly questionable and the defensive depth is porous. 39 year old Giordano as a 2nd liner....that's not going to work in the playoffs. As such, Leafs give up a lot to get 1 year of Kane only to face the same playoff problems with defensive depth and questionable goaltending....would be a bad move.
