They are better off just playing Thompson, this is not a solution for them

Thompson significantly outplayed Allen last season, albeit with a few fewer starts. How would giving him up and running two career backups for the season improve their team?

All well and fun to laugh at Vegas' misfortune (not laughing at Lehner, genuinely feel bad for the panda, he deserves much better than this), but I think they would sooner eat the pride and go hat in hand to San Jose or Seattle inquiring about Reimer or Jones than give up Thompson.

This would exactly by the same as Montreal trading away primeau at the start of last year bc price was hurt to start the season

I can guarantee not one canadien fan would agree to that even after coming off their cup run

Vgk easily declining. You all must forget Logan Thompson played for Kelly McCrimmons team he owned. He’s not trading him

ok
But given they're currently not Cap or Roster Compliant with the NHL
How does adding make sense even with Lehner down ?

With Lehner down they're still over the cap with 3 spots for a 23 man roster to sign
They had to gift MAF post Vezina for Cap reasons
They had to pay to move Pacioretty who had 47 pts in 49 games last year
Teams are refusing to bail out teams like TBL and VGK who went top heavy to build a contender
But are now having to pay the price for doing so.
VGK in particular no one wants to help out
TBL got lowballed with Mcdonugh but they didnt have to pay to move him like VGK with Pacioretty

If anything they want Karlsson's deal out in and Allen Deal
Which is actually Ideal for MTL as he's a solid guy to put with Dach to help him transition to Center
Then hopefully he'll rebound his offense and we can trade him to a contender before he goes UFA.

This trade helps both teams
Your trade helps neither team

Logan Thompson is at $766,667 for three years.
A team in cap trouble doesn't trade that for Jake Allen and Paul Byron.

Whoever they acquire to replace Allen will be more expensive that Thompson.
