Let the record show that this is not a fully serious ACGM and this would never happen in real life

Ducks middle six is already jammed up enough as it is, we really can't use him unless we send someone back.

Canucks aren't trading a top 6 player for a rental

It's Canucks fans who are the bigger proponents of this trade!

Edit: I will say that they always include the caveat of a built in extension

The Ducks don't even have 12 NHL forwards under contract unless you're counting Glenn Gawdin

We just acquired him this off-season, we intend to play him. We also have a massive backlog of rookies to try out, and since we are in a rebuild, there's no point sending out futures for middle six rentals when we need to see what we've got.

Edit: forgot, Silfverberg is still on IR here, but he is expected to play at the start of the season, bumps us to 12 "NHL" forwards and Gawdin takes us to 13.

Well I'll let 25 year old Mr. Gawdin and his one point in nine career NHL games know that you think he's better than Andreas Johnsson. It's a salary cap move, not a rental, and a fourth is hardly a future. Johnsson takes up a decent amount of cap space while only getting paid 750k, which allows you to try out all those rookies above the cap floor

Where the hell have you been? We are well above the floor mate, got no problems there. If it's a cap dump, picks come with him, not the other way around.

2.6 is hardly well above. You're making a mountain out of a molehill, if it's that important to you that you not give away what could very well be another Glenn Gawdin taken with that fourth, we can just pretend that he got waiver claimed by Arizona.

Troy Terry was a 5th round pick, Jesper Bratt was a 6th, we don't want him filling a spot on our roster that the kids need, and paying with a pick, no matter how small, for a guy that delays a rookies development by taking the ice time or that we sit doesn't make sense to us.

If we take on any more cap this season, it's for a good pick. Florida, Toronto, and a few other teams are still decently to well over the cap, one of them will be paying handsomely for the cap space.

For every Terry, Bratt, or Gaudreau taken in the 4th-6th, there are 50 guys who never see NHL ice and 50 more who don't last 20 games. It's really funny to me that you're this adamant about the least important move in a post I already admitted was unrealistic. So you don't want to pay for Johnsson, awesome! Who knows, maybe Anaheim is on his NTC! I only traded him in the first place because I think it's gonna happen, all I needed to do to make the team compliant without moving him was put Bernier on LTIR. Again, we can literally just pretend he got waiver claimed by Arizona and it changes nothing except that you get to feel all self-righteous.

Zegras, Terry, Comtois, Vatrano, Henrique, Strome, Lundestrom, Silfverberg, Grant, Carrick, Jones, McTavish, Groulx

There’s 13 without counting Gawdin

Not to mention Perreault and Gaucher could make the Ducks

Gonna have to pay us to take your cap dumps
