your getting out best player and one of the best younger power forwards in the leauge and our top Goslie prospect
Holtz had high ceiling but is unproven and stumbled last year, him and a 1st is fair.

I didn't know Gaudreau was a legit prospect, I assumed he was just a fluff add. That said, without the guarantee of an extension the Devils shouldn't have Holtz anywhere close to a Meier trade.

oh 100% agree we would have to allow you to negotiate an extension prior to the trade.

It’s close. Take our Holtz and replace with another prospect like Thompson, Foote, Zetterlund, Bahl, Stillman, etc

When is this trade made? Would have to know how good/bad we are to consider.

Gaudreau is a pretty strong goalie prospect.

Its close, so take out majority of the value and put in something worth far less? No thanks, Holtz and the first or bust.

Id also consider a Bratt swap.

Id imagine it could be end of season or deadline time depending on the situation of the two teams.

Holtz + 1st is not a realistic return for Meier. Nor is Bratt.

no it 100% is. a top line all star 35 goal scoring power forward for a top prospect and what would then be a mid to late 1st seems very fair to me, just because you don’t want to move Holtz doesn’t make it unreasonable. and not bashing Holtz is a top prospect but he is still unproven and you have to provide a lot of unproven pieces to get a legit top guy.

I really don’t understand the whole “Meier isn’t worth Holtz & 1st line people are taking.
Tkatchuk got a top line 100p player a top line D and a 1st.
yes Tkatchuk is a better player but not by a lot, a prospect who has a high ceilings and a mid to late 1st is more than fair and almost seems like an underpayment.

Every year, I say these type of wingers will go for less than expected. Every year, people yell at me. And every year, they go for less than expected.

So I will say what I always say, provide me comps. Some me one trade where that type of value (top-20 prospect and 1st) for winger that was 0.7-0.8 ppg player heading into what will likely be UFA season (no one is qualifying him at $10 million).

Should start with Fiala, Buchnevich, Reinhart.

Also, Holtz just put up a point-per-game year in the AHL in his age-19 season. There is very small club that have achieved that (Rantanen, Bergeron, Elias). And he has three years remaining on his ELC. Don’t bother trying to diminish him. He is proving it.

Tkatchuk got way more than a prospect and a 1st. both are power forwards both are younger yes Tkatchuk is better but not by a lot.

So...Palat, Severson and 2025 protected 1st? (if Sharks extend Meier first)

Fabian Zetterlund and playoff-protected 1st then?
