Begging Oilers fans to drop the Zub/Barrie stuff. It makes zero sense for Ottawa

Don't bother trying to convince Oilers fans not to do it. I myself am not a supporter of this exchange, I am absolutely comfortable with Barry in our team, even as the seventh defender, he adds variability to defense, with the right partner, Barry is a defender in a scarce position, with unique skills. It's just that with Kessel's signing rumors on the rise, Barry's trade is the only way to fit Kessel under the ceiling in our team.

How you going to keep Barrie as 7th defender and be cap compliant? You have to dump someone? And even Barrie’s limited skill set, given the oilers below ave d-corps can’t see how Barrie is worse than 6 other dmen on your roster

I'm not saying that Barry is our seventh quarterback! He is the defender of the third pair. The season is long, and I fully admit that at some point, depending on the circumstances, for example, if the opponent forces you to choose a more defensive play scheme. I think Barry can be in the reserve, and Dearne in the third pair from the right side. And there is nothing terrible and unusual in this.

Good point, but just not sure how he fits in under cap as a potential scratch ? Oil in same straits as leafs; looking at a 20 man roster unless / until someone moves

Foegele is an obvious candidate if we don't sign anyone else from the market. But if we sign Kessel, then it is Barry who is going to be traded, and therefore the question immediately arises of signing an experienced defender from the market to replace Barry in the third pair. But for me, this alignment does not make sense, I consider Subban and Stone to be hockey players who are currently not able to help the team in the campaign for the Stanley Cup. I would keep Barry on the team and not buy additional players from the market.

These Tyson Barrie trades to Ottawa aren’t happening, and Zub going the other way is just ridiculous.

If you need cap space, trade Barrie to Buffalo for say, Owen Power, it is just for cap space, right? lol
