I wouldn’t do Miller for Pesce one for one let alone adding Necas and a 2nd for scraps. Vancouver would be adding to this significantly. No one is paying that price for a rental.

Would you trade Quinn Hughes, Vasili Podkolzin, and a 2nd for Jordan Martinook, Zach Sawchenko, and Jordan Staal? That's what this trade is to the Hurricanes

Not quite the same, Miller would be a premium asset unlike Staal (but like Pesce) and with Necas+Pesce out, he's probably not a rental like Jordan Staal.

It still doesn't make much sense for Carolina since they will still have a Pesce-sized hole and finding a replacement even through FA next year with all the RHD that may be available due to the cap allocation to Miller.

If Miller had 2-more years on his contract like Pesce, this trade would be closer and make a little more sense but would still be unnecessary, so I guess if you meant in terms of needs/surplus rather than value, then it would be effectively the same from Carolina's perspective.

As @Caniac2000 pointed out, if you aren’t willing to trade Q. Hughes, Podkolzin, and a 2nd for Martinook, Sawchenko, and Staal, what motivation should the Canes have to make this absolutely garbage trade that you have proposed?

Canes have no need for Miller, and have no interest in him either. They won’t give up the assets that Vancouver wants, and they won’t give him the money that he wants if a move were to ever be made. Do you really insist on being a troll any further or can we put your nonsensical fantasy behind us and move on?

Well first of, Hughes is way, way more valuable then Pesce. Second of Miller is way more valuable then any of Martinook, Sawchenko, and Stall. Saying that’s comparable is even more ridiculous then the actual trade

Eh I wouldn’t say that. Quinn plays LD which is less valuable than RD, and is pretty brutal defensively

He’s also one of the best D man with the puck in the league, one of the best powerplay quarterbacks, incredible on the penalty kill, younger with tons of room to improve, locked up for 5 years, and is way younger with room for improvement

Yeah this package favors Vancouver way to much no way we get pesce. As for the canes fans saying it's equivalent to Hughes for Staal no it's not give your head a shake

Wait, when exactly was Quinn “incredible” on the penalty kill? Because Vancouver was the 3rd worst PK team in the league, and Hughes played on the 2nd PK unit. Surely if he was incredible, the Canucks wouldn’t have the 3rd worst PK in the league, no? Face it, he is just another offensive defenseman who is a defensive liability.

Whereas, Pesce who has an elite 2-way game, absolutely dominates on the PK on the top unit and at even strength, which has helped the Canes have the best PK in the league and finish the season allowing the fewest goals in the league. Pesce has also taken over quarterbacking PP2 at times, and was very effective on the PP as well. Pesce won’t produce as much as Hughes, but that also really isn’t his game. But Pesce has been a hell of a lot more effective than Hughes in the dzone. So who exactly is the better and more valuable defenseman based on these facts?

The only reason the Canucks PK was bad was because under Green, it was league worst and on pace to be the worst of all time. Once Hughes joined it, it was average and he specifically was incredible on it. He would read the plays and stop them before they happened. The Canucks were also bottom 10 in GA with terrible D outside of Hughes. Quinn Hughes is incredible with Luke Schenn as his most common D partner. He is a star

I’m not saying he’s more valuable but he’s definitely more valuable than a lot of people on here seem to believe, especially some Vancouver fans
