If the Canucks trade Garland it’s for a defenceman

Why would the Canucks ever do that?

Canucks are adding a second round pick to the superior player in Garland?

Jets probably need a forward to compete for top 6 minutes over sanheim playing his off hand, very intriguing though sanheim probably actually resigns in Winnipeg. Possibly a start to a blockbuster.

Vancouver passes big time.

Anaheim isn't dealing Comtois for a cap dump and a late 1st round pick either.

And Winnipeg passes as well.

We'll take that huge $7 million millstone off your necks for the conditional 2024 first in exchange for Max Jones and the later of our two 2023 thirds.

No way in hell ANA will take van Riemsdyk off your hands without you paying a first and a second pick or prospect. Why would they?
And yes, you are getting exactly zero in return on that deal. Take it or most likely leave it

I think if Philly Retained on Jvr Anaheim would consider it.
Anaheim would basically trade a 2nd and Comtois to trade up in the draft and be able Sell Jvr for more assets at the deadline at a way better Cap hit to contenders. The Contending team tend to pay more for good cap hits.

Depends on how you value Comtois at this point

Flyers couldn’t dump JVR with a first without getting anything back, ANA laughs at this offer 😂

Take out Comtois and the second and ANA might do it

Jets Decline
We don’t need Sanheim, at all.
We need RHD and RHW… if you want to talk Konecny, then we’re all ears

Best Ana can do is a 2024 3rd and Grant for JVR and your 2023 1st. We'll even lotto protect it to shift to 2024 1st and our third drops off.

Anaheim values him as a 23 yo forward that is on a bargain contract and has already led the team in goal scoring once in his young career. There's no reason to value him as anything less because that's what he is. There is no world in which the Ducks would consider this trade proposal.

That's Fair. I wouldn't say it's a Bargain it's a prove-it Deal that he still needs to do. He hasn't necessarily set the world on fire at a young a change of scenery might be beneficial.

The Alternative if he doesn't pan out next year you just let him walk for nothing like sam steel did.

That's a gamble I'm comfortable making. Max had a tough season between expectations being sky high, his wrist injury that required surgery and a coach that played him on the 4th line. The first and second of those issues are already gone and the third is an Eakins problem not a Comtois problem.
