Why include the blues in this trade at all. This doesn't really do anything for them

So much for CHI rebuild......this sets them back and Seguin doesn't waive.

I don't see how adding a 13th/14th forward to the ranks helps that much, let alone in the service of a rival adding a #1 forward. That would be monumentally un-good.

A 3-way trade for Patrick Kane would be a lot more simple than this.

Assuming Patrick Kane's signing bonus was paid in July like most players signing bonuses are, he is only owed 2.9 million. This means that double retention will only cost a third team 725k in real dollars, prorated for the remainder of the season.

That means that the team who acquires Kane could get him with a cap hit of 2.625M.
