If the goal is to trade Bertuzzi for pennies on the dollar you have succeeded. I don’t even like Zadina and even IK he has value. Meanwhile Erne is expiring anyway.

Minnesota is getting destroyed with buyouts right now, do you think they can afford trading budget players to sign a guy like Bertuzzi?

Detroit has alot of money coming off the books. More than enough to sign Bertuzzi, Larkin. Raymond and Seider plus the rest of the team. No need to make bad trades to a team that can't even afford what you sent them.

Minnesota declines. They aren't trading greenway whose a major part of 3rd line for unvaccinated player whose a free agent they won't keep. Every wild player is Vaccinated. Minnesota also won't keep him due to cap

No they can't. They haven't even signed any player's this free agency. They require player's to be vaccinated

They do have as much as I think. We currently have over 9M in cap space without anyone on LTIR. Larkin gets about 2M for a raise. Bertuzzi also about 2M in raises. The retention on Panik and Fran Nielsen's buyout are both off the books next season, that's 1.875M freed up there. The Abdelkader buyout goes from 2.3M to 1.05M next season that's another 1.25M saved. So after those two extensions we have 8M or so in cap space right there. Ned is going to need a raise and that is likely 2M more so we are at 6M now. Maatta and Oesterle are free agents after this season so unless reassigned that's another 3.6M so we are at approximately 9.6M. Both of those players likely replaced by players on entry level deals so let's say that eats up 1.8M, down to 7.8M. Unless Lindstrom has an exceptional year I expect him to get a little over a million raise, so now say we are at 6.6 with the defence basically set. Sundqvist and Erne likely not resigned at all so that gives us another 4.8 so sitting at 11.4M of space. Zadina might get like 1.4 over the next two years so we still have 10M. Suter depending on his play might get resigned for around the same but considering the players we have coming up I doubt it, another 3.25M there. I could see Raymond and Seider both commanding around 8 M each with Raymond likely a little less but I'll go with 8 to play it safe. For the other players needing new contracts at that time, Rasmussen, veleno and Hronek likely don't get much different deals unless they show substantial improvement so we will say an extra million towards them, 12.5M. Perron is a UFA and if he wants to stay for his age 36 year I don't see him costing more than 2M, 14.5M. Kubalik also likely not resigned and that's another 2.5M, 17M. Vrana I don't see getting much of a raise, we will say he gets 6M a year if he sticks around. 16.25M to resign those two, which doesn't seem like that much if they both want 8M but could work. Also a chance Perron might not come back so that's more. Cossa might possibly be ready for a back up roll by then so Husso could be traded and hopefully Fabbri gets traded by then as well. Should be more than enough to ice a good roster but after doing this I understand your concern.

Minnesota has $12.7M in dead cap this season and for the next 2 seasons they will have $14.7M in dead cap. I'm pretty sure that was what he was referring to and it is a lot. The next closest is Florida with $6,575,000 and with most of the league having less than a $1M or none at all.

You have to consider the next few players coming to Detroit will be on ELCs. Ned did request the trade to Detroit and he did play well last season considering the situation but his stats really aren't good enough to demand a big pay increase.

No we don't, Look at Detroit's salary cap for the next several seasons. There's tons of money.

laugh That doesn't even get Bertuzzi let alone adding Erne and Zadine to the deal. If Bertuzzi signs with Minnesota and they can't afford Bert he'd cost far more than those 3 worthless pieces.
