As a Flames fan, I'd do it without if you were willing to replace first with a high-end prospect like Zary.

No way in hell Calgary considers that.

Hanifin is worth more than Miller because of contract status alone.

It’s hard to compare defenseman to forwards based on points, but I’d honestly assume Hanifin is more valuable to Calgary than Miller is to Vancouver.

Probably not. Miller HARD carried offense this year. Pettersson sucked for the first half of the season, Boeser kinda sucked the whole season, Hoglander sucked for the whole season. Miller had one of the highest point differences to the second highest scorer on our team. Without him, we were likely a lottery pick

Hanifin anchored the defense in Calgary. He is fantastic.

Hard to say he anchored the defense when andersson, Tanev, and even Kylington we’re all phenomenal last year as well. If anything you could make the argument that hanifin is the 3rd or 4th best defenseman on the flames especially with the addition of weegar

None of the guys you listed are better than Hanifin

I should probably look at their metrics again, but I doubt any of those guys are as good as Hanifin. I’ve never been as big a fan of Weegar as most people are. Kylington is good but he’s not Hanifin. And Tanev is a pure second pair righty. You can’t compare any of those guys to Hanifin.

Now with Andersson it’s a little more complex but whenever I’ve watched Calgary it’s seemed like Hanifin is the better defenseman of the two.

Btw I know Weegar is an analytical darling, but he played with Ekblad on a dominant team last year.

Flames aren't trading Hanifin and a 1st for a pure rental
