Yeah, its unfortunate. The Devils are very hard to predict because that Metro is so competitive. If a team like Washington wasn't there then the Devils would have a good shot of being a contender.

Overall, I do think that they will do better than last year. Vanecek as a starter or timeshare will be interesting to see, it definitely is better than Bernier and Blackwood. Palat and Haula are solid addition, though they did lose Zacha. Nemec could also play, so that stabilizes the defense.

Love my beloved Ducks, but I really can't see it (unfortunately).

They were fringy (weren't making it) with Hampus, Manson and Rakell last year, then traded the 3 of them.
This year they've added Strome, Klingberg and Vatrano...I *think* it's a bit of an upgrade, but unless Dallas Eakins figures out how to run some sort of system, they'll continue to struggle to keep pucks out of their net.

I think Montreal’s a bit better than 29, it does depend on how Price does, if the team can continue their MSL form from the end of the last season and a couple other things but we should be around 70-75 points imo

This.

I don't see the Ducks being this good, especially not better than L.A. and Calgary. I could see the Ducks finishing ahead of Vegas if their goaltending without Lehner really is horrible all year and if Gibson can be as good as he was before the all star break last season on a consistent basis.

Just re: Vegas-I don't think they're nearly as bad (even without Lehner) as people seem to think. If the rest of the team, including their D are healthy, they're going to limit a lot of opportunities against them. Thompson in net is a coin flip, but they should be able to putter along.

My guess (sadly) is:
-Edmonton/Calgary
-Calgary/Edmonton
-LA (*IF* Quick matches this year)
-VGK
-Seattle (*IF* Grubby remembers how to stop a puck...)
-Vancouver
-SJ/ANA
-ANA/SJ

I'm OK with it for the Ducks...I'd obviously rather think that we're a contender, but all I ask is to be entertained.

I assume you're accounting for the 12 Flyers injuries that will happen where 3 of our players lose their arm then another 2 stub their toe and it gets infected.

Philly so low is quite the hot take considering the moves they've made.
Don't think the Panthers will be division winners this year, we'll see the weight of the loss of Weegar early on and it'll be amplified as soon as one of their top 4 guys gets injured. Also not sold on Paul Maurice, he wasn't able to take the Jets anywhere and that's with a Vezina caliber goalie every year and a comparable offense to what Florida will put on the ice this year (No 100 points forward but much better wingers than Hörnqvist and White in their top 9).

Maybe this is me being a bias bruins fan - but i still think BOS has the upperhand on Ottawa/Washington.

They do. They will be fine, the only concern is their injuries at the start and their goalies.

Injuries yes, but i think most bruins fans see their goaltending as a borderline strength. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Philly being that low wouldn’t be that much of a surprise, even with the moves that were made. They are trying to be competitive with an uncompetitive team. They think they can try to contend when they should rebuild.

As for Florida, no way they win the Atlantic in my opinion. The problems start by the loss of Weegar, but Chairman Mo doesn’t exactly fit the Cats play-style. Speaking from personal experience, he is defensively minded to a fault. Combine that with a team who doesn’t have a dcore that is capable of shutting down the opposition, it’s a recipe for disaster. One of 2 things will come from that: 1) Florida learns how to defend and will succeed under Chairman Mo, or 2) coaching and playing style clash and it’s a mess. Either way, grab your popcorn, cause this should be interesting.
