Ducks paying a second and a third for Bailey? You understand you're dumping his cap on us, for two years right? That 5 million by two years costs more than Bailey produces for those two years.

Picks come with him or you can keep him.

Maybe don't give Dobson nearly double his value of a 2 year deal? Then you don't need to destroy the entire teams depth

I’m good keeping him lol. Not sure why everyone wants to pretend he’s a terrible player lol. Worst thing you could say about him is that he’s painfully average in the regular season. Then he goes out and scores more goals in the playoffs then he did in the first 82 games of the year lmao.

Since we wont likely be making the playoffs until his contract expires, that last part holds no value to us. I'm not claiming he is a terrible player, I am claiming that the 5 mil AAV that he occupies is more valuable per season than he is as a player for the next two years. His points production per season has been on a steady decline over the last 4 seasons, and while it hasn't fallen off a cliff yet, him rounding the corner into his mid 30s this season increases the possibility of a steep decline prior to his contracts completions.

So no, Baily is not terrible, nor is he even bad right now, but due to the cost of Cap space and the length of his contract, he is at best a neutral asset. There are only 5 teams in the league right now that can take on Bailys entire 5 million without moving some of their own cap (more than 5 mil cap space and no big RFAs yet to resign this year) In Anaheim, Arizona, Buffalo, Chicago, and Detroit. Stevey Y went shopping this offseason already and has his roster set, So I believe Det is out. The other 4 teams are either still in tear it down mode, or in the middle of building back up. None of them will pay to take Baily on.

I doubt bailey gets moved anyway tbh. But the idea you are getting paid to take him seems kind of ridiculous tbh.

If the Isles need to move out several million in cap space, then it's not a ridiculous idea, far less so than Baily getting a 2nd and a 3rd at any rate. The four teams who can take him don't want him because he is gone before our rebuild is over, he takes a spot on the ice from one of the youth we need to develop, etc.

I'll be the first to admit, this offseason is crazy with what the flat cap has done. But teams who need to move cap who are trying to play chicken hoping the teams with the cap space lower their asking price are going to be SOL.

Given the age of your roster, you can probably keep Baily and play jump rope with injuries and IR this season until Varly falls off the books.
