No to the retention on Kap, but you can keep the 3rd and just swap straight up. Hextall loves Kappy though unfortunately.

Ducks don’t really need Sandin. Plus Comtois is bound for a bounce back season

Ah my bad. Again, I'd do it, but Hextall likes him enough that he doubled down on him for two years.

Ducks aren’t competing this year and have an amazing pipeline of LHD. So I will say it again. Ducks don’t need Sandin. If they’re gonna trade for a LHD it’ll be a veteran on a 1 or 2 year deal.

And Vaakanainen has been fine with Anaheim so far.

OTT has Chabot and Sanderson on LD, don't see them moving in another LD like Muzzin.

When did Muzzin announce he's willing to waive his no movement? Also Muzzin is so bad that Leafs have to pay to move him, yet Larsson is suddenly a top pairing guy and costs two top prospects?

Vatrano is depth scoring, Klingberg filled a hole at RD and got us over the cap floor, and is going to be flipped at the TDL unless we REALLY like him and he is willing to sign a reasonable contract. We Taylor Hall'd him.

So yes, @LosPatos is right, we don't need, nor particularly want, Sandin. We have Zellwegger and Mintyukov in the pipeline for offensive D, we have Benoit and Vaakainen for defensive D, and we still have Cam Fowler for 4 more seasons. We wouldn't pair Sandin with Drysdale, he needs a defensive focused partner. If Sandin was a RHD, we might consider this offer.

However, we are light at left wing, so why would we trade away a guy from our weakest depth chart position and acquire one too add to the deepest position we have? That makes zero sense for us.

We are not going to compete this year, if we somehow make the playoffs due to the pacific division being 10 ply, we get bounced in the first round in 5 games or less. Anyone who thinks the Ducks picked up Klingberg to go on a run this season is playing checkers while Verbeek is playing 3D chess.

Anaheim is a small market team, we don't have the luxury of being able to tank for multiple seasons like Toronto has in the past and still have enough money to survive the loss in ticket sales. We have to rebuild on the fly and keep the product on the ice entertaining even when we are doing poorly, or the team has a serious chance at bankruptcy.

Just cuz Columbus gave bjorkstrand for free doesn’t mean kerfoot doesn’t have value. Tampa paid 2, first rounders with 2 prospects for a player who never hit 50 pts

Yes but they paid that price cause Brandon Hagel was making almost no money and they really had no incentive to trade him, obviously the price was insane but Kerfoot is the same kind of player except he makes 3.5 mil against the cap. Currently in the league cap space is king and thats why Bjorkstrand was traded for next to nothing, which is why Kerfoot isn't going to net you a 2nd rd pick, at best you could hope for is a 4th id say and thats being very generous.

That only matters to a team that has no intention of competing to reach the cap floor, but the Flames aren't that so real dollars owed doesn't matter its the cap hit that determines his value.
