Nylander isnt a top 50 player

Only because he's a leaf. Put him on several times and he's their best player but he's in TO so he's automatically hated

If Hyman/Burakovsky are superstars, what are McDavid/Makar? Curious about your meaning of superstar.

Exactly. So should the best player in the world be lumped together with a 70-75 point winger?

Go cry victim to someone who cares. One of my 7 superstars is a leaf but if it troubles you that much go get therapy.

That's a bit over the top eh? Poor Islander fan is so hurt the best superstar you've seen in decades left so now no one can be a superstar.

Over the last 4 seasons he has 208 points in 254 games. That averages out to 67.1 points per 82 games. Just bc he had 1 great season (and still not over a ppg) doesnt mean he isnt a 70 point winger.

How have we done since he left and how have you done? Asking for a friend.
Its not that no one can be a superstar but the idea that nylander and mcdavid are the same caliber player is asinine.

I guess a guy who just turned 26 has reached his ceiling eh? Definitely never going to grow and will decline now I guess. That certainly doesn't bode well for the plethora of late 20's early 30 year olds with years of term and 5 million in salary littering the Islanders lineup eh?

I am just checking last season's records......hmm....how have you done? Well you've won nothing of import and now aren't even a playoff team with an aging roster that will only get worse with more terrible cap situations that will be so hard to fix.

Terrible cap situation? We have 11m in cap space. Also you havent won a playoff series in forever so yeah i would say we are in a much better situation.

I never said he wont get better. Youre just making sh*t up now. But you cant say hes better than a 70 point winger when he hasnt been. Also no i dont expect him to get significantly better. As for the isles late 20s early 30s players no i dont expect them to get better either this is the most ridiculous comment ive ever responded to

Oh okay we are going to go down this road. I figured you'd not want to get into detail about this. But here goes.

You have 11 million in cap space with only 19 players currently on the roster. Dobson needs a new deal. At best it's a 2 year bridge deal around 5 million. That's 6 million left for Kiefer Bellows and Romanov. So if they go for 3 each. You are out of space. And next season you have Barzal and Wahlstrom to resign with only Varlamov coming off the books. Your team wasn't good enough to make the playoffs and right now you have 5 forwards who are about to turn 30, or are over 30 with at least 2 years term and make over 5 million. None are going to do anything but decline. Some sooner than others but all have played their best hockey. So what's the great plan here? Give Kadri 8 million? That definitely seems like a Lou thing to do. Give an over 30 player major money and term.

Checks notes again......80 in 81. By my calculations, that is better than 70 points. I could be mistaken, but the way numbers work in this regard, 80 comes after 70. Making it the bigger number. Hockey isn't like golf were the lower number is better.

Jesus christ. 3m for bellows????? He gets max 1m. Romanov also probably doesnt get 3. As for dobson he gets something like 3×4 or 8×7. Next year cap goes up 1m varlys 5m comes off the books and mayfields spot goes to grant hutton which with paniks 250k is another million. So we have 7m for a backup and raises for barzal and wahlstrom. Thats plenty of space.

Barzal is going to deserve a hefty hefty raise. But I am sure you believe he'll sign for 8 million or something way below market value. On top of that, have multiple bad deals on the books is going to help so much. Lee may be best served as a 3rd liner already and has 4 years left. Palmieri is a bottom 6 forward now and has 3 years left. The list goes on. Lou got some lucky outlier seasons with Trotz and it's coming crashing down and it's going to be so ugly. I love it.

Lmaoooo. Barzal will get 8 years 72-74 million. If wahlstrom signs 3×4 and they sign a backup for 2m which is the going rate rn (comrie, samsonov) they are good.
Lee has played 416 games over the last 6 seasons and scored 162 goals for an average of 32 goals every 82 games. The analytics back that up as well. Hes a 1st liner good playdriver offensively but terrible defensively.
Talk about outlier seasons????? How about a historic roadtrip to start and then half the team out with covid
