Hypothetical Flyers Rebuild

Created by: B_seka17
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 15, 2022
Published: Aug. 15, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think everyone can agree that this team needs to blow it up. Feel free to say something about any of the deals. Realistically to me anyone can go. Couterier, Farabee, Gauthier, and Hart seem to be the only real “untouchables” to me and many other Flyers fans. Also Boston trade is a 3-way deal with Calgary I just forgot about it and it is towards the bottom sorry

Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Walker, Sean
  2. 2023 1st round pick (LAK)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Not sure about the value here on Walker but he could be replaced with someone like Durzi if Kings fans think that is more fair. Flyers also will receive the love of the Kings 2023 third round picks
LAK
  1. Sanheim, Travis ($2,337,500 retained)
Additional Details:
LA gets a top 4 option with an extension in place
2.
PHI
  1. Lucic, Milan
  2. Monahan, Sean
  3. Välimäki, Juuso
  4. 2023 1st round pick (CGY)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (CGY)
  6. 2024 4th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Not sure about the value on this one draft pick wise but I think something like this could work for both teams. Firstly the Flyers receive draft capital to accelerate this hypothetical rebuild. They also get Valimaki who is a youn defensive project that likely won’t make the Flames NHL roster because of their great depth at defense. They also take on Lucic and Monahan’s contracts which can be potentially dumped at the deadline with retention. If Lucic is unwilling to waive his NMC perhaps the Flyers have a three way trade planned or just by him out as well however he would fit in very well in Philly
CGY
  1. Frost, Morgan
  2. Konecny, Travis
Additional Details:
The Flames acquire a top 6 winger in his prime to help replace the pieces they lost this off-season. Konecny has show good offensive ability in the past and could fill in for Tkachuk as a good agitator however he has dealt with some inconsistency that perhaps under a good hc like Sutter could be fixed. Could slot nicely on the second line with Backlund and one of Mangipane or Toffoli. Flames also get a young former first round pick center in Frost who is similar to Valimaki and could likely slot into their lineup due to their weakness at center
3.
PHI
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (TBL)
TBL
  1. Braun, Justin
Additional Details:
Anywhere for a 3rd or so at the 2023 deadline
4.
PHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. van Riemsdyk, James ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Deadline deal. I think JVR could return a late second especially if he is playing on the Flyers top line. Proven 20 goal veteran if Pacioretty is still out could try to fill in for him
5.
PHI
  1. 2023 5th round pick (MIN)
MIN
  1. Brassard, Derick
Additional Details:
Similar to Braun in bringing a guy back to flip him at the deadline again anywhere for a 5th
6.
PHI
  1. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Brown, Patrick
  2. MacEwen, Zack
  3. Sandin, Linus
Additional Details:
Another deadline deal. Not sure if the Leafs will do this but they like to add a bunch of playoff depth guys so a similar deal. Get another Sandin, a depth bruiser, and a depth defensive minded guy. Could be anywhere from a 4th-6th or so
7.
PHI
  1. Wagner, Chris
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2024 5th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Flyers get picks and take on Wagner’s contract
BOS
  1. Lucic, Milan ($2,625,000 retained)
  2. 2023 7th round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Part of the Flames trade to get Lucic to waive his NMC. Bruins get their old power forward back

I would want more for the Salary of Monahan and Lucic.

That’s what I was thinking. Was thinking of Flames 2023 firsts plus Florida 2025 first but perhaps that is too much

I'm not sure they would pay it but given the Price of cap dumps this offseason id say it's fair.

I have Theory teams are unwilling to pay the price to dump contract, so there waiting it out for Inevitable injuries and a desperate team arising. Otherwise, we would've seen a lot more moves happening.

Calgary isn't doing that trade as it is currently so good luck with that. Both Lucic and Monahan are off the books next year and there are far better options on the market than Konecny.

Valimaki for Frost cancel eachother out value wise

I'd keep Frost because our LD depth is already so deep. I don't know much about Valimaki's play recently but Frost showed hope near the end. I get a scenery change though

Have to agree with both Ledge and Farabee....

CGY wont give up the moon just to drop two expiring UFAs, AND Frost for Valimaki doesn;t work for PHI (who, even if they move Sanheim are deep at LD), but Koneckny is worth those two and the 1st and maybe the 4th. As far as acquiring Lucic, theres no need for him, so youd have to flip him to BOS (who seems to be getting the old gang back together, but Lucic at 50% is worth more than a cap dump and a 3rd and 4th, maybe a 2nd and 4th).

I like most of the thoughts, but Milano is a pretty poor player, so I'd have to say I'd wait on the LTIR guys (Farabee and Brink) and then bring in Foerster/OBrien/Zamula/Ratcliffe/Allison/Hogberg/Desnoyes and just roll with the youngsters.

Was basing the Milano signing as the market is rather weak at this point and he is 26 just someone to put into the lineup as this team needs NHL level towards for the first part of the year. A one year deal could work better though because maybe they would flip him as well
