What is CHI going to do with Brenden Dillon? They have 6 left shot defensemen pushing for a roster spot, arguably more. I could see the hawks taking Wheeler, not the Bruins. Maybe a Wheeler-Toews swap makes sense.

Jets fans need to stop thinking that a 36 year old with a bad contract with term has trade value. You might be able to move him next year at the deadline as an expiring contract.

Otherwise you are going to have to take back bad $ for very little return.

Boston is already over the cap, can’t add to it and would never trade Debrusk for Wheeler.

Trade him to Calgary straight up for Looch. You dump the 2nd year and they stop trying to trade him to Boston. Lol.

I was more thinking along the lines of keeping him until the tdl and then moving him. But wheeler for teows also makes sense. Heck, I’d even be willing to take his full contract if you would be willing to take wheeler’s. Wheeler can then also be moved to a contender at the tdl for a lot more than what the jets can move him for. Win win

Not sure Wheeler waives the NMC, but the logic makes sense. CHI has a boatload of cap space next season to keep/retain on Wheeler and others.

Wheeler at 6.5 isn’t a bad contract in my opinion. That said, I get what you are saying about cap. How about a Dillon for debrusk type deal? With the jets adding a 3rd or smth

I think that if there is a gentleman’s promise of wheeler going to a contender come TDL, he might waive.

Could be kind of interesting, possibly chicago eats 2 on toews and Winnipeg eats 2 on wheeler x 2 years left. Opening up the tdl up a little bit, for possibly a better return with chicago possibly retaining some on wheeler.

Boston has 5 LD with NHL contracts. They need to dump 2 as it is.

That 2nd year of Wheeler is problematic when trying to move him.
