Monahan has 1 year left and then his contract is off the books and Flames can use that money better.

There could be something to do here about both team. I hear rumors that Calgary want Lucic contract out to be able to add playable playoffs player value and everyone know Monahan is not anymore in the coach plan.

Could there be a trade between MTL and Calgary to swap bad contract to help each other ?

For exemple Lucic + Monahan to MTL for Armia and Dvorak.

Mtl get the cap space available for next year and don't care to pay more money this year as it probably a tanking one. And Calgary get better player who can play and be pay less them what the actually pay. Of course in the process they lost the freedom of years in Armia and Dvorak contract but the number are lower them Lucic and Monahan meaning they still free a small amount of cash like maybe 2 to 2.5m maybe. That not so bad to upgrade on bottom 6 line up and still give you some cash to extend Weager and add Hubby extension into the space.

Never happen. Monahan and Lucic contracts both expire next summer while Armia and Dvorak both have 3 years left. Calgary has 10 contracts expiring in just 2 years time, including Lindholm's who is going to be in line for a big raise.

Also Sutter actually seems to like Monahan and maybe Monny is finally healthy again too.

Armia and Dvorak have really good contrat.

Montréal want trade them because they rebuild, only.

Monahan never play again maybe.

Both club says YES for différents reason.
Calgary win that trade.

Dvorak is not a bad contract. He’d be pursued by half the teams in the league.

Yet Flames trade Monahan with a first round pick for nothing today which say alot about is value right now. with consideration , Kadri is really a good upgrade So the Flames team lost Gaudreau, Tkachuk and monahan but win Kadri, Huberdeau and Weeger that pretty impressive summer for them. Lost big piece but still get out with good thing also.
