Barzal would have to come with an extension for the Sabres to even consider that.

Absolutely. You are not trading a top prospect and a pick unless Barzy comes locked up and Buff thinks they can make a run in 24’

MIN would never do that trade. Doesn't matter what kind of cap hell they would be in. There are other options for them.

Frankly a terrible trade proposal. And that DET trade... is equally bad. Why would a team pay for a 7 M has been with a first round pick and a 2nd on a horrible contract?

I think the value is reasonable if it’s an extension of 5+ years, not sure this is a move Kevyn Adams would make though.

You don't improve a team by trading your best and most dynamic forward. You trade the older players and keep Barzal.

The Wild wouldn't trade Boldy straight up for Nelson let alone adding a 1st round pick.

Did you put the first round pick on the wrong side of that MIN deal?

Let's be clear, a top "prospect", first and a young NHL roster player (in this case second) is about the correct price for a player with Barzal resume.
Unlikely the Sabres would make this deal.
Barzal is dynamic, unfortunately he only has 91 goals over the past five seasons.
Buffalo is more likely to continue to draft well, make smart UFA additions (i.e. Comrie, Hinostroza, Anderson...) and continue to build from within before they will make any block buster deals.
