I think with 2 mill retention on a 1 year deal, Voracek still has value. probably a better bet than trading a first to dump him, still an excellent set-up man

Detroit's building a solid team, Calgary didn't. Do you see the difference??

Larkin is from Detroit and is the captain of the team he grew up dreaming of playing for and is close to family.
Gaudreau is from New Jersey and was playing for a team over 3000km away in a different country all the while expressing desire to be closer to family.

Steve Yzerman said re-signing Larkin is a top priority. Detroit has loads of cap space to make him a rich man.
I doubt Larkin pulls a Johnny.

Calgary was a playoff team. Detroit likely won't be one til Larkin is 30.

a mediocre playoff team for Johnny's entire 10 years there, last year was their best year by far.

laugh Larkin is from the Detroit area, Gaudreau is from South Jersey. Big difference between the two. Larkin isn't leaving home town Detroit for Columbus. So not happening.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. The Gaudreau precedent has conclusively demonstrated that Columbus Is Sufficiently Close To Home, after all.

Yzerman isn't stupid, He's not letting Larkin walk for nothing. If he can't get a deal done and if Larkin wants to go to Columbus. Then the deal would be similar to the Seth Jones trade. Jarmo will need to pony up big time if he wants Larks.

Nah, they'll just wait till he's a UFA to sign him. He's gonna be right at home with his buddy Werenski.

Calgary really got a lot for expiring UFA Johnny Gaudreau...

Not happening, Larkin will be traded to a team of his choice then extended long term. Maybe it's Columbus maybe it's not Columbus. They're not going far anyways especially not with Merzlikins in net.

Nah, he's gonna just walk as a UFA after a playoff run wherever he gets traded to and then get a solid deal in Columbus next summer. Why would he rob his future team of assets when he can join them at no cost?

Sure keep telling yourself that, Larkin isn't screwing his home town team that he's the Captain of. You want Larkin you're going to pay dearly for him.

Philly was his choice but Philly didn't make him an offer.
The Red Wings are Larkins first choice. And they will make him an offer.
