First of all, i wouldn’t say Hoglander got favorable usage whatsoever. This year was definitely a down year for him and he was not deployed in a role to succeed. I wouldn’t say comparing the two is generous given that Hoglander is the same age and has an extra year of experience in the NHL already. I also called Fehrevary a depth player because that is exactly what he would be on the Canucks. He has no role on a team with Hughes, OEL, and Rathbone, and Dermott on the left side. He is not an RHD which means he serves little to no value to the Canucks. I’m not even going to comment on Wolanin because he is a nobody, but the point is both those players will serve little to no value to the other teams. I seriously don’t think the Canucks would trade a recent 99 point player for 3 players that have barely proven themselves, while also adding on another top 9 forward.

The part about Fehrs doesn’t make sense. Just bc he might not fill a position of need on the nucks doesn’t mean his value is that of a depth player. It just means the OP didn’t target the right player in that instance, should have no bearing on said players value and potential. Also, he traded OEL in this post so that kind of deflated the initial argument of him not having a place on the team, no?

Sabres and caps decline.

With the long term retention on Skinner, plus taking on a bad contract in OEL and another cap dump in Dickinson, they just not getting enough value.

Miller is very good but the caps shouldn’t be trading three of their best young players for what likely amounts to a rental when their top 6/9 isn’t really an issue to begin with. They’ll need cheap young talent to keep the window open these last few years.

While I will admit, my choice of wording was very poor, the point is that he does not bring much value to the Canucks unless he can play on the right side. As for the OEL trade, that’s simply unrealistic as that would never go through

I guess but can’t argue every variation of every scenario. Based on this one (neither trades are remotely likely or realistic) I think he’d slot in nicely on second pair.

Explain to me where Fehrevary would play behind Hughes OEL, Rathbone, and Dermott. Most likely the press box

Dude, it is okay if you hadn't heard of Fehrevary - no need to get mad.

Also, if you think Fehrevary would be behind Rathbone and Dermott, you should really do MORE research.

Anyways, moving on from this argument because clearly you think VAN players are very good and overvalued, despite bad making the playoffs once since 2015

Fine I’ll play along. Do you think it’s worth Vancouver’s time to trade for a player who will be their 3LD? Fehrevary is solid but not as good as OEL, and nowhere near as good as Hughes. He wouldn’t be seeing very many minutes anyway unless he can play on the right side

Miller trade does not favour Vancouver at all. Hoglander despite his down season is easily worth McMichael. That leaves Miller and a depth player for Lapierre and a depth player. Canucks are getting robbed blind

Calling Fehervary a depth player is absurd when he played 3/4 of the season alongside John Carlson lmfao. Caps say no, giving up three core pieces of the future for an aging center is not the move

While I will admit my choice of wording was poor and doesn’t do him any justice, just look at our LHD and tell me where he would have a role to succeed. We need RD, not LD since we have Hughes, OEL, Rathbone, and Dermott already in the depth charts

Oh I'm not saying he'd fit in Vancouver, I'm just saying the dude is a great hockey player. Probably my favorite defenseman we have besides Trevor Van Reimsdyk. I think both teams say no to the other in this trade scenario haha

Not the point. Point is, he is not a depth player, as you said. But glad you owned up to it by admitting your wording was poor.

All good - Can't wait for hockey season!

Read the other comments, I admit my wording was poor but my point still stands
