Oof, even as someone like me who loves Matthews this is A TON going back to Toronto...even for him, but I'll defer to the opinion of Devils' fans on this one

One year of Matthews doesn't get you that much, If he signs an extension with NJD then sure

Maybe take out Nemec and Mercer and add Boqvist instead?

Devils aren’t doing that and Ducks aren’t doing that.

Ducks shouldn’t trade futures unless they’re in the running at the deadline. Matthews is more than likely to walk when he becomes a UFA

Devils decline, easily. Much better to wait a year and make an offer in UFA.

Absolutely horrid for Ducks and Nj for one year of Nylander and one year of Matthews.

Four 1sts for a guy that hasn't made it past the 1st rd and sign him to an 8 x 13+ mil contract?

Lose in 1st rd. Extend Samsonov.

And his team hasn't played a 2nd rd game. Pat Maroon won 3 Stanley Cups in a row. Then keep him. And pay him 13-14 mil in 2 years.

Best goal scorer, 2nd best player in the league, for 5.5M. Yes, four 1sts

To a team who had a serious chance at a cup run, the Ducks are not there yet. Giroux is also one of the best faceoff guys in the league, while Willy is a winger who seems to not give a **** for a third of the season.

Also, why on earth would the Ducks want to overpay for retention? We're not hurting for cap space like you are. Drop the retention and the 2024 1st and you might have a deal that makes a semblance of sense for us.

I agree you guys need to get less top heavy, but I would be looking at moving Marner first.

Lol keep playing that narrative about Willy over and over, this would be next season as well, Ducks would have less cap space for sure and if they're making this move they'd likely be aggressive in FA as well

Ownership and Verbeek are in agreement about building from within. We pass on the deal. One year of Willie at 3.5 mil isn't worth two young middle six guys and three high draft picks to us.
