1) Ottawa has Sanderson coming, so they don't need Sandin. 2) if you don't trust him on the 2nd pair, why on earth would they give him 4.2mil? 3) if Ottawa doesn't move Zaitsev, that contract probably loses them Shane Pinto, so it's definitely not worth it in the long run

Agreed with the rest but I don't think Zaitsev contract is such an anchor... I mean, it has only 2 years left (and 7 M$ owed)

There's still time before Pinto and Sanderson are expensive

Pinto could price himself out of Ottawa next year. Unless the cap goes up a lot, most of Ottawa's cap will be gone just from Cat and Stützle. Even if Formenton and Brannstrom are gone, if Zaitsev isn't they could lose Pinto anyway.

We'll have to use bridges like teams do as the cap gets tighter for us. If we're not ready to spend to the cap and beyond, forget it.
