Why, in the world, are the Islanders adding?

The isles are not trading Dobson, he is already signed and it will be announced in Sept.

And Lou did not wait too long on Kadri, he determined that it was not worth moving a 1st to trade Bailey just to sign Kadri.

Dude c'mon. Isles aren't trading Dobson for sure (I know that's what you meant), but the Isles desperately needed a guys like Kadri. They're mired in mediocrity with all of those stupid ling term 5-7 mil contracts they've overpaid for mid tier forward guys. (Lee, Bailey, Pageau, Palmieri). They need to pay to get rid of some and add some flash and offensive talent guys so players like Barzal and Dobson don't force their way out of town..........

Moving out Bailey and a 1st to sign Kadri for 7 years is not adding flash and improving the offense significantly. The move would have been trading for DeBrincat, but who knows if Lou was even made aware that he was available.

The biggest issue with the team last year was also the inability for the D to get the puck out of their own zone and skate up ice, subtracting Chara and Greene and bringing in Romanov with Salo playing full time is a massive improvement.

You're right, that was a big problem and moving on from those two while improve and adding youth to the D corp is big, but that F group is still just so uninspiring......

It just costs too much right now to move money out. The Isles will look to get what they can out of the forwards this year, move on from Bailey next year and maybe Pageau too. I don’t see Palmeri being moved unless he has a good year and his value increases in a trade. At this point the most likely boost until the trade deadline is Raty winning a spot in training camp and the Isles move Nelson to wing like they would have with Kadri being signed.

Bailey-Pageau-Palmeri
Parise-Cizikas-Clutter

I really want to see Wahlstrom take the next step, he needs to earn a top 6 spot.
Love Raty........kid is gonna be awesome, and hopefully makes the team this year.

For all the great things Trotz did as coach he had young players too scared to play fast and make plays as 1 little mistake and you’re on the bench and scratched. I think this is either the year that Wahlstrom breaks out, or he could be moved next offseason if Lambert handcuffs him like Trotz did and he asks to be moved.

Either way the kid is a 30 goal player, his has a great wrist shot and snap release. His one timer is meh right now but he can learn that.
