those last few years are going to hurt....but this means Calgary is all in for the next few seasons, not a Flames or Kadri fan- but this is worth it. bold move.
I guess the price to move salary were too high for Lou..

I vote No because of the lack of information.
If it's front loaded and there isn't huge bonuses (aka easier buyout) then it would be a W.
But as is, IMO Calgary is signing excellents players in their prime that will start to decline. The back end of those contracts will stink, probably including Weegar who should be next (8x6.25M$?).
I don't think this is a good contract due to term, but credit where it's due, the Flames lost two 100pt Hart vote wingers and came out the other side a better team on paper than last year.
"Oh, this contract will hurt Flames in 3-4 years". SO WHAT!? And fortunately for the Calgary fans (I'm not), their GM doesn't care too. The team is on "win now mode". So, it doesn't matter what will happen with the contract in 4 years. It's a very good sign RIGHT NOW. This is everything that Calgary must care about. 100% with this sign. Specially, because the Islanders lose him as well.
We all knew that Kadri would get a contract that's way too long. It will almost certainly be an albatross by the end, but this is what you have to do to get players like him.
This is a great signing for Calgary IMO. It won't look good in year 4+, but Calgary is trying to win now and Kadri's cap hit is very cheap for what he brings. Even if he regresses to 60 PT's and the 2nd line, it's still fair value. Makes sense for Calgary's plans.
Win now mode for Calgary. Ideal term would have been 5 years. The AAV is good imo but will likely be a poor contract in the last year or two. Can't wait to see Kadri against McDavid multiple times a year, that will be fun
Flames trying to replicate the Sharks/Predators method of building teams. Sign aging guys to huge deals and be stuck barely making the playoffs / missing the playoffs.
