Calgary has had such a rollercoaster of an offseason. Got way better despite losing Gaudreau and Tkachuk. Term is iffy but it makes them better in the now, so this is a huge W

this deal is gonna hurt in 3-4 years, but its solid right now.
what a turnaround for CGY, from losing gaudreau and tkachuk to getting huberdeau, weegar, and kadri
unbelievable work by treliving

Good signing right now but this is likely going to hurt in the later years. 7 million for someone in their late 30s will cause problems.

I am extremely happy for Naz, but that will be a very regrettable contract.

Oh well it just means he can come home after the buy-out.

Also just thinking about how he nixed a trade to Calgary that had Brodie as the return that lead to the Barrie trade. It was because he had *the passion* but still, just uggg. Idk is one year of Barrie worth having both Kerf and Brodie? Like I think so?

Anyway this has been a pretty awful offseason for Calgary overall that I think is going to be looked back on a lot more poorly than CF is looking at it right now.

Honestly good signing, sure that’s a lot of term but Kadri was always going to get said term and as long as Kadri performs years 1-3/4 this is fine

Very happy that's not a 8M$ or plus contract. However with 7 years, the last few years of his contract will be heavy on the cap space tho. Surprised he didn't sign with the NYI also with all the rumors going around

Huberdeau was needed to replace Gaudreau.

Kadri was needed to replace Tkachuk.

This had to be done.

Congratulations to Flames' GM Brad Treliving for navigating through one of the most difficult off-seasons in recent years for the team.

Vote yes.

Don't love nor hate.

I had him at 8 for 4-5 years or 7 for 5-6. So went to 7. Likely a bit to much with that term. But that's the going rate for a high end 2 c in UFA (I'd certainly prefer Kadri to say Hayes).

I suspect this will age somewhat poorly but in the end if he can remain a good c for another 4 years I think everyone will be content if not quite happy

Better hope he outperforms the contract the first couple of years, because he sure won't be worth that when he's 35.

This contract (and Huberdeau's) will age exactly like the next 2 playoffs run.
If they boom, Treliving will become Calgary's mayor.
If they bust, this off-season will be remembered as one that set back the Flames.

Not envying whichever playoff team that ends up having to deal with Kadri and Coleman on the same line.

I congratulate him on his cajones and doing something to make the best out of a tough situation. I'm not sure this will work out great in the end, as all of a sudden they have a fairly old core. But damnit good on him for taking some risks and swinging for the fences.

I vote No because of the lack of information.

If it's front loaded and there isn't huge bonuses (aka easier buyout) then it would be a W.

But as is, IMO Calgary is signing excellents players in their prime that will start to decline. The back end of those contracts will stink, probably including Weegar who should be next (8x6.25M$?).
