Fine with that, Calgary is clearly all in while Lindholm is still getting paid under 5M a year and before MArkstrom hits the back 9 of his contract. No issue with trading the next 2 1st rounders.

Habs have to have a move here to move out cap? Dvorak/Hoffman maybe? If they got a 1st for taking on the cap hit, good move for Hughes, if not, this seems like they made themeslves do work for no reason to get cap compliant if there is no LTIR in the works

its an intersting move for the Canadiens if they can min max their roster while picking up draft capital. Interesting to see how this all shakes out Cap wise for them without knowing anything about if someone is slated for LTIR

is he officially done?
I never know what a team needs to do be cap compliant before they can put a guy on LTIR. Is it just the 10% cap overage...if you are less than that you can just toss him on LTIR when they have to submit their cap compliant rosters to start the season

i would say its a 90% chance he is done

and i still dont know how LTIR works so im not even gonna try but im assuming they have corresponding moves in place if we do go ahead with this trade (still waiting for team account to tweet before i believe anything)

Anytime I believe I understand LTIR, a team seems to do something that contradicts it and its 100% allowable so I just give up

We don't know, but its hard to imagine Montreal would make a trade for Monahan in the middle of August if they didn't have a plan to be cap compliant.

Absolutely, they aren’t a Mickey Mouse front office, just have no idea if it’s via another trade or ltir, we just need training camp to start. We have been rostering bating too long with this slow offseason

Or that’s technically not allowed, the league frowns on it. But won’t stop you from doing it

The cap is just a myth, teams always find ways to bail themselves out if they are beyond it
