Description
How do we tank for Bedard with such a deep forward core?
What should we do with Christian Dvorak? I’m not a fan of paying 4.5 mil to my fourth-line centre.
The defence and goaltending give me hope for the draft lottery. However, it would still be helpful to have one more experienced defenseman back there. Thoughts on signing Subban on the cheap ahead of camp?

Might be more to come from Montreal. When Dadanov, Drouin, Byron, Allen, and Monahan’s deals expire after this upcoming season it will clear 23.15 million cap space next year.

I’m hoping that our forwards have good years but we’ll still be a lottery team because our defense and goaltending are subpar. Then we take these forwards on expiring contracts and have a field day at the trade deadline.

Also, your thing on bedard. He is at least today considered a generational talent who will be the best in you prospect pool. That is why you get him in. Get him in and then sort out Dvorak and company

Dach can't take FO's for s***, so Dvorak on his wing makes perfect sense.

I’m completely sold on Bedard, don’t get me wrong. I’m just concerned that our forward core is a little too good for what we’re hoping is a bottom-three team in the NHL. We need to move out some forwards soon

Dvorak - Evans - Dadonov on the third line would give them Hoffman - Monahan - Gallagher for the fourth line and $15,450,000.

And with Byron expected back, your 13-14th forwards both make 3.4mil, thats 6.8mil healthy in the pressbox.

Its also a lot of vets, with limited value and not part of the MTL rebuild, eating NHL minutes from youngsters. (even in the above, theres just 8-9 guys out of the 24, who I'd keep thru the next 2-3 years rebuild (including dvorak)

MTL has alot of vets and trade pieces to shed, but alot are flawed (example: does Drouin get anything close to market value based on his injuries/reliability? Does anyone pay much for Hoffman, with 2 yrs left on deal? Do Byron or Armia have any value? etc...)

Where did Rem go? Juraj probably gets a year in Laval after the 10 game sample burning through his 1st year.
Drouin and Monahan are question marks at this point.
The Habs have another move or two to go I'm sure.

Monahan is't expected to be back before November and when he does, I expect him to play on the fourth line. Dvorak is a prototypical third line C. Let's hope Dach works out at #2. I'm not worried about player salaries and cap space. They'll be fine this year adn next year there'll be $23M in space, not counting Price on LTIR.
