With Weegar needing a new contract (Which they should give him), they're better off acquiring a rental. Robertson's contract will break the camel's back here.

You aren’t giving yourself the best chance getting Dallas best forward by not even offering neither of your top two prospects. Calgary needs to add, and a lot more to just get Dallas’s interest.

This is an easy decline from Dallas, there’s no assets of close to Robertson’s value that are included.

Calgary would be better off try to send a qualifying offer to Robertson and paying dallas the draft picks(if they have them) than trying to trade for his rights
