i think it would take more than that for Montreal to take on Lucic. At least Monahan has the potential to bounce back, plus he is younger and he plays a more valuable position. Therefore, Montreal could trade him at the deadline if he is productive. I don't see much advantage to Montreal taking on a slow 34 year old overpaid winger who is not very well liked in the city.

If Lucic was traded to Mtl he would’ve been included in the Monahan deal.

Problem with Lucic is he’s hated by half the league. He’s a player other players hate enough to not even have him on their ranks. I also think he also would not lift his clause to come over here.

You’d need to flip him (maybe even with a 1-2M$ retention) and another 1st pick to a team with cap space, where he’ll be unseen. Anaheim, Arizona, Detroit, or NYI.
