Did you notice how you got a 1st for one year for monahan? Why would the sabres give up a 3rd for a cap dump?

That Calgary trade makes no sense at all. They traded Monahan to get under the cap and paid the Habs to take him. Now you expect them to add Dvoraks 4.5 million for 3 more years? Not to mention they already have a very solid 3C in Backlund assuming Kadri and Lindholm are 1/2C's.

Agreed - and the Sabres have no need for another winger when they're going to make space for their rookies like Quinn and Peterka.

Short answer is they wouldnt. I don't think Hoffman is quite the cap dump that Monahan is, with Monahans hip, who knows what to expect. Hoffman is still producing, although it looks like he's trending down, I don't think hid value is straight cap dump, he's probably overpaid for his production though. Trick with moving Hoffman will be finding a team, and figuring out just how much they have to retain or take back to move him. Not sure anybody that's looking for secondary scoring is gonna have 4.5 in cap space.

Hoffman scored like 10 more points than a crippled Monahan last year and has 2 more years on his contract where Mony had 1. He is a cap dump - no question and you would need to send that shiny new 1st you got from Calgary to move him!

It’s not a terrible return but we have no need for a RHD. Korczak can’t even find ice time. Keep the one true winger we can actually rely on
