In what world does that move the needle for the Canucks.

Fairly sure the Isles would consider that an over-ask.

It wouldn't be about moving the needle this upcoming season, but to improve in the long term. I know that may seem foreign to Canucks fans, but other teams do stuff like that all the time.

Outside of that, it looks like I've stumbled upon a rare "both teams say no" trade scenario.

More like you've stepped into the very common homers overrating their own pending UFAs expecting the same return for a rental they can't resign for a price they're willing to pay as they'd get if he was signed to a team friendly long term contract.

Your offer is an overpay for rental Miller.
